i am going to replace my visor deluxe. it seems that the only real choice that i have to make is between the nx70v or nz 90.

i have fooled around with the nz70 at staples and fell in love with it. so the nz can only be better, right?

i have some questions

1) is the screen on the nz noticably better than on the nr70v?

2) will an extra battery benifit me? i use several hours a day(3-4)
(as for photos/video/voice, i can only guess what my usage will be) how about battery drain with a wi-fi card in?

3)do you think a driver will ever be developed for CF?
i have lots of compact flash cards and would love to use them for storage

4)what is the difference in photo quality between the two?
nz is 2 megapixel, right? is the nr a 1.3? how noticable is that?

5)anything else?
thanks

1. That's what they say.

2. The camera and WiFi will chew up battery power when in use. You might be able to squeeze 3-4 hours if you keep the backlight brightness down.

3. Hopefully there will be a beta ready next month.

4. The more pixels the better for resolution. Most noticeable when the image size is increased.

5. Yeah, there is a price difference...

Your Welcome!

You say you are trying to choose between the NZ and NX but in your specific questions you keep listing the NR. I am kind of confused but I will try to answer your questions. Of course, I am somewhat biased towards the NX because I have one and wouldn't trade it for the world.

1)I used a NZ for a bit, I don't think the screen was any better than on the NX

2)I personally don't think the extra batteries will really benefit anyone until someone releases a charger for the battery alone. currently you have the charge the battery inside the NZ and so you can only charge one at a time. I really like the replaceable battery feature but definitely needs a charger to charge extra batteries outside of the clie.

3)CF driver looks promising. one company claims to be working on it right now.

4)NZ is 2mp. NX is something like 300k pixels. camera on NX is very usable but not as good of quality as the NZ. also the camera on the NZ takes forever to refresh after taking a picture or starting the camera app. I still don't think the camera is worth it on the NZ because it doesn't have an optical zoom.

5)I could go on forever. Just ask if you have any more questions

1) The NZ screen is definitely better. MUCH brighter, recalibrated color balance, and improved stylus-to-screen feel. This is not debatable; I had both at my home and compared both side-by-side. The difference was very apparent, and did not necessitate anything more than a cursory glance to detect.

2) Based on your usage patterns, you should be able to get through the day without problems -- charge daily until you're comfortable with your own personal routine.

3) One company announced plans to develop one. If I were in your position, I would assume that a CF driver is NOT coming out.

4) The pictures produced by the NZ90 are miles ahead of what you'll get from either an NX or an NR. In addition, the NZ's camera has a flash, which greatly increases its versatility. The camera application takes ~9 seconds to load, but allows for fairly rapid back-to-back picture taking. $200 for a 2MP camera w/ built-in Bluetooth is a steal, IMO.

5) I could recommend either device. I have used both extensively, and find both to be excellent, excellent handhelds. It's been almost two weeks, and I still can't decide on which one to stick with!

The screen is significantly brighter. Seat o' the pants I'd say an extra 30%. I rarely turn it up above 50% now and the NX would rarely go below 30%.
I'm getting significantly better WiFi use with the NZ. About 3 hrs compared to 1.5 hrs. and I'm able to use powersave on the NZ without affecting page loading...
There's a lot of depth to the battery. I still plan on an extra, for just in case...
Who knows on the CF driver? I'd expect it to be hacked, but when??? That's the $64,000 question....
Camera is sweet. Not as easy to take quick shots, but the quality SOOOOO much better. The flash is an added bonus. Though not as strong as a dedicated camera flash, still enough to pick up shots the NX would never get. So nice to always have a good qualtiy camera with me.
Play with both. Either is a good buy , IMO... Just depends if you want the expanded features or not.
