Hey guys,

Me again...I'm just wondering how the video playback performs and what quality would you guys say it is in the UX-50? I'm leaning more towards the UX-50 due to the Memory Stick cards which would allow me to use the same memory for my Sony Handycam camcorder. I heard about this .MQV format...how does it compare with other formats such as those found in top-of-the-line PPCs. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the resolution on the UX-50 still surpasses most new PDAs. Can anyone comment on that?

Try to search this forum first. There were many topics concerning video on UX50.

.MQV quality is worse than DIVx but it is still fine to watch films on ux50. I tried it and results were really good, only the sound quality wasn't best, so you have to use headphones.

there are players that play divx/xvid on the ux50, but from personal experience, converting to mqv is the way to go. Playback is way better and you get to use the clie movie player. The only downside is that you dont have real full screen. This is fine for me because the ux's widescreen would actually force me to change the video aspect ratio. With the clie player, all i have to do is convert, and I have nice clear playback.

.MQV is basically the same as .mov (apple quicktime movie). I use the program that came with my UX50 to convert my movies and television shows and just watch them with the UX50's stock player and headphones. I'm really impressed with the quality, and I see no real reason to change.

Peter, what size is the file of your shows. I'm still from the old school when you converting DIvx w/ codec?
