View Full Version : Rumor: Treo 650
Additional details and a new clear image of the possible next generation palmOne Treo smartphone have now been posted at Palminfocenter. The new image and details reveal a slightly smaller unit with a revised keyboard, a higher resolution screen and bluetooth connectivity. [details (http://www.1src.com/?m=show&id=424)]
Possibly putting my NX70 to rest. This would be great as I need a cell phone/pda combo.:)
Same here, Tixx.
I wanted to downgrade to a phone that has no camera but would have Bluetooth... but it's quite impossible to find! Now here comes this new Treo with 1.3MP, hires, most probably Bluetooth and WiFi... and PalmOS-powered. This new Treo is a bit hard not to consider getting.

Too bad about the camera issue you have. Hopefully they will consider catering to the "no-camera" market as that seems to be growing with all the industry restrictions on such devices.:)
Something like this device I almost cannot pass up. I just hated to downgrade to a phone that had less than my NX70. Now all I seemingly would compromise is the length of the screen.
And all those cool new 16-bit VG/SBs.:(*sniff sniff*
I would hope it has WiFi.

It has been quoted at a few places, including the slide show of the Treo650 that was leaked a while back, that there would be both a no camera and a camera version availiable. I would welcome a no camera version, but a 1.3 on a camera is a heck of a tradeoff for paying the same price (silver tape to cover it anyone?)

There will be both Camer and non-camera versions of the Ace just like there is a camera and non-camera versions of the Treo 600. Also, none of the rumors state that the Ace will have integrated wifi...that is almost assuredly not a possbility. However, there is still conflicting reports whether the Ace will be EGDE/1xEvDo compatible which imo would be very exciting. If the specs turn out to be true, a 312 MHz proc, 320x320 screen, 1.3 MP cam, BT, Edge/1xEvDo, and PTT would be very impressive indeed! :)

Is it just me, or is 650 sumo wrestling when compared to 600?

This is hard to pass up. The only thing giving me pause is the smallish screen. I would love to see a Tungsten Treo - a Tungsten-like form factor with built-in cell capabilities, no keyboard and a Hi+ screen. I use my PDA far more than my phone, so I'd rather have a cell-enable PDA than a PDA-enable cell phone.
But that aside, this is one sweet machine!

Basically, this would be my perfect PDA/phone - http://churchoflivingfaith.com/images/treo800g.jpg (http://churchoflivingfaith.com/images/treo800g.jpg)
A TH-form factor Treo would be the best for me ;)

The new backlit keyboard on the Treo 650 is nice. It's almost paper-white
treo 650 would be nice, but too little and too late :-/
there will be no wifi, that is for sure. as well that there will be no EDGE or 3G support ;-/
but I'd not buy palm again, I got used to the multitasking. even my dumb nokia 6230 can multitask!! which a regular phone. phoning with treo you cannot really take advantage of the PDA Part like vieweing documents, images, notes ...

Yeah, today I saw a guy with the Samsung i700 (The brick-like PPC phone) and he was able to check his schedule without having to disconnect from the person he was talking to. Can the Treo do that?
I like Treo as it is but some redesigning for typing and holding comfort would be nice. Best if have faceplates =). I'm begging for Wifi but if not, theres always an SDIO slot.

I just wish the word about it came out before I purchased my Zire 72. I really like the Zire, but the new Treo would have been awesome... basically Zire 72 engine in a phone model with BT. WOW! Maybe, I will give my wife the Zire 72 and then get myself this thing.
Either pass your Zire 72 to a family member, or sell your Zire 72 and use the money to add to your Treo fund. ;)
