when it comes to designing technology for PDAs it seems that no one ever considers the large portion of left handers that are out there (11% of Americans) and that is not ok with me!!!
when will they realize that there is a real market out there that desperately needs units made for left handers!!
feel free to respond to this in any way that you please;)

I'm a lefty and it doesn't bother me in the least. I'm curious, what sorts of things would you like to see?

The only thing I could see is moving the stylus to the other side, is that what you want?

Too bad that LeftHand Hack never pdated for the Clie screeen. That one worked pretty good. Lefty works on some programs but there are a lot that it does nothing on.

Really not that big of a bother though.

ok, the jog dial on the other side would be nice, a big thing is the scroll bar should be on the left side, as it is now you cover whatever it is you want to see when you use the stylis to move the scroll bar. the stylis on the other side would be nice.
another big thing for me is all the extras that you use, they are ungainly enough as it is, and to top it off they are always made for right handers.
the truth is that we are all used to right handed things and so it is a strange thought that maybe it would be better if it was made for a left hander.

I agree! I would love a lefthanded scrollbar.

ps: at least we have a lefthanded icon. Actually, I think both of the hands with the extended thumb icons are left hands?

I'm lefthanded and wish there were a lot more things in this world designed for us, but, alas, there are not. I guess most of us leftys would rather just adapt to the way the world is then sit around and complain. Wouldn't it be nice if that worked with politics and religion?

Does anyone know if there are any programs/hacks for the Tungsten E2? I recently upgraded from a Palm V to E2 and I really miss my lefty hacks :-(

This is ESPECIALLY true of Versamail where the scroll buttons don't even work half of the time.

I use Lefty (http://www.palmblvd.com/software/pc/Lefty-1999-09-30-palm-pc.html) on my TE. Datebk5 will have scrollbars on the left-hand side with Lefty. I don't know which other applications work with Lefty, but for instance Repligo and Plucker do not.

Also, I use ZLauncher, which has a built-in option for moving the scrollbar to the left. The native Palm launcher is not "lefty-aware".

Hey guys,

Search around on Freeware Palm for a program called ScrollBar5 (Or Google for it) and install that.

It will add a menu to your Prefs called ScrollBar5 which allows you to alter the scroll-speed of scroll bars.
HOWEVER, it also has a Left-Handed mode which moves the scroll-bar to the other side.

It works pretty well, BUT in some apps it may not work, or even mess up the UI so backup your data before testing it!

Many thanks for that. It works with at least Datebk5, Docs 2 Go, and the native Palm launcher, but not every program becomes lefthanded (Plucker, Repligo).

Cyker... thanks a lot. Now some of my apps are using left hand scrolls. Unfortunately my biggest gripe (versamail) still is not resolved.

Does anyone know if there is another email client compatible with versamail?

Regarding the stylus. I think the old Palm Vx (and probably all the other Palm handhelds with that same form factor) had a slot on either side. Granted, I think some cases used the left side to attach to the PDA... but if you don't use those, then that would have worked.

I'm left-handed also. I have a plam z72s. I'm wondering if any updated lefty programs are out there. This thread seems to be about 3 yrs old.

Does the palm OS5.28004 have the capability to scroll on the left side of the screen? If yes, how do get the software to do it? If no, the name and location of any new lefty software would be very much appreciated

Thanks for the tip on the lefty program. I use a finger tip stylus and use both hands on the screen.
