Slowwww Transfer

Hey guys,
im not sure if this is normal but it seems transfering a 3mb file to memory stick through a TJ37 is super slow.
I thought usb transfer to the card would be quick but its pretty damn slow. Im using a 256mb card (the 2x128) one not pro.

is this normal or is there a faster way?
it is through hotsync.

Ahhh, finally back from my vacation in Nelson...

Anyways, back to business. How long does it take to transfer the 3 MB file? If it's over 5 minutes, then you've got a problem. Most file transfers thru Hotsync are pretty slow, even with the TJ37. Your best bet is to make use of the Data Import feature of the Clie, as it is supposed to be faster than Hotsyncing files. (I've never actually compared the two data transfer speeds, so I'm taking their word for it). For any files over 1.5 MB, I use Data Import to transfer files from PC to Clie. If it takes 10 minutes to transfer your 3 MB file, maybe you should consult the people from Sony because there might be something wrong with your Clie.

Yeah buy a cheap USB2 flash memory "all in one" reader/writer for around 10 bucks that supports multiple flash memory card types like MS Pro, CF, SD, SM, XD etc...

The one I have transfers 50MB files onto my MS in a matter of seconds.

You don't even need a all-in-one writer/reader. Just use the Data Import application built into the TJ37's ROM. It's fast enough by itself. I've transfered files around 20-25 MB in a minute (give or take a few seconds). However, if you really want high speed transfers, and require them for work or something, then Insider is right, a all-in-one read/write module is what you need.

thanks guys... i think i got my answer.. it was taking like 5mins with hot sync... now i installed the clie driver that makes it an external drive for windows... it takes 3 seconds to transfer over a 5mb file now, much better.
