View Full Version : Lexar Rebate Problem

I bought the Lexar memory stick in December and qualified for the rebate. I sent in the rebate form in early January. I don't remember the date but I returned home from a vacation on 12/31 and I always mail in rebates within a couple of days of getting the product.
Now, I got a notice from the rebate company saying the rebate was postmarked too late (deadline was 1/15). I really feel cheated. I have no way to prove the date. I wrote to the rebate company and have not heard back yet.
In the meantime, my SanDisk rebate, mailed at the same time, sailed through, no problem. Granted, its due date was 1/21 but, again, I am positive I mailed these much earlier than 1/15.
Did anyone else have this problem with the Lexar rebate?

Yes, for different reasons.
I went to the site on the web where you can check the status of your rebate and complained LOUDLY.
They now say that my rebate will go through.
Good Luck and let us know.

I think it is amazing that, in the couple of minutes since I posted this, two people reported some kind of problem. After I posted my message, I wrote to Lexar and asked them to check on it, also. Maybe they have no idea what their rebate company is doing. Let's see what happens.

I agree BettyE. Everyone should contact Lexar and find out their intentions. Their website is Lexarmedia.com.

What I find nuts is that on the rebate form it says to allow 8 weeks for the check. A bunch of rebates I sent in 8 weeks ago just now are saying they were accepted and to expect 8 weeks for the check!
What a scam.

I just received my rebates ( I did two, as allowed by them ) about a week ago. It seemed to take forever!
Sorry for you folks having a hard time.

I bought a Lexar stick in November from Tiger Direct, sent in the rebate mid-December (12/31 due date), the rebate website said they recived it on 2-8-03 (I guess it took a month and a half in the mail:rolleyes: ) and now it is 'processing'. It has now been 'processing' for a month.

One reason I hate rebates! You should get the price break at time of purchase, dumb! There should be a law against it:mad:! Most places that process rebates are contracted 3rd party.

Well, duh, the whole reason for rebates is that most people lose them or forget to mail them in. Given the statistics, it is foolhardly to think they would just take the price off the top.
Yay! Capitalism :).

A friends wife who worked at a rebate company said that only around 30% of the people turn in the rebates.

I bought a Lexar 128MB memory stick in November or December (can't remember) and received my check a couple of weeks ago.

In fact, I have about $1000 total (not all Lexar obviously!) in rebates that were mailed out between Christmas and 1/1/03 that I haven't seen.... and man could I use that cash!
I Bought my Lexar ms from compusa on september and I just got
the check two days ago......amazing
I guess it just depends, I bought a Sony satellite radio (wouldn't that be great for Clie) and a Lexar 128 in December. I mailed both rebates the same day and received my $75 for the radio 3 weeks ago and still have not heard a thing from Lexar.

You should have expected to have to wait this long when you bought the product(s).

Yea; I am expecting about 3-400 in rebates, from stuff bought around Xmas time, I've only seen one.
I have come to belief that rebates are a corp. scam.
Now I refuse to buy something that has a rebate, just give me the discount when I buy it.

the 8 weeks noted on the rebate forms. However, with many of the rebates, it will apparently be another 6-8 weeks from now before they are likely to be received (based on information provided by the rebate services). So, where the forms say 6-8 weeks, it is actually more like 14-16 weeks. And, naively I suppose, I did not expect that. But, thanks for the words of wisdom ;) :)

In my experiences the true manufacturers rebates seem to arrive in the mailbox before the maximum time.
The rebates through a store take longer. The worst one for wait times seems to be Compusa. They must tell the rebate services people to hold on to them for 2 weeks before processing or something.
