For all of those who have heard about the "monopoly" by the ESD's PalmGear and Handango, I have an idea that I would like to present to the PalmOS community before acting upon it.
I am interested in starting a website which participates in no selling on its own. Instead, this website has links for each program to where someone can directly download the program or directly buy the program. This would be a major advantage to developers, who receive on average only 60% of their sale prices, on a monthly basis.
Initially, the only fee for developers would be a fully registered copy of the program for preview purposes (and kept updated as the program progresses), but as the site develops and more features are available, there would be an increasing number of features (for instance, pay thru the website with only a 5% commision and a small yearly fee) that each developer can choose to opt in to.
Throughout the life of the site, there will always be direct links to the developer's website, which will be easily found.
If anyone has comments/suggestions/opinions, post now.
