I have just installed a trial version of PowerRun, and after launching it, I select the card type (IM or MS) and then CRASH..
Any suggest?
I have read the troubleshooting guide and it says something about PalmZip, but I don't have it in my UX :(
I only have PowerRunV1.3 installed, it's not the latest version. But things are running OK.
By the way, the PowerRun file I am using is installed in RAM, & not through IM'a AliasExt. I've also tried it with CodeDiver, it still managed to Launch, so not sure what is possibily causing the CRASH.

yup more or less...minus the extra $$$. it gets some getting used too though. powerun is much more simple.

Well, what if you want to upgrade or uninstall one app moved with AliasExt trick??
Do you have to move it back to RAM???!

what did you do with poweRun?

i got tired of poweRun (just too many problems since using poweRun). i unistalled it and lost everything except RAM & aliasExt content. poweRun isn't right for me. im going to try the aliasExt once again. installed warfareInc on aliasExt and never had problems since. poweRun might be easy to use, but i found it frustrating that it keeps copying apps and i have to manually delete/move it from RAM to IM

I got rid of it as well.
However, I find the Alias trick to be very annoying to have to move files from one side to another, and I don't find many differences on space and speed compared to ZLauncher, so I'll keep on with ZLauncher
;)

I have used PowerRun since I bought my UX. I have it installed in internal memory. No crashes of what sort in mine. Never had a problem either. I am using version 1.3. I prefer it over alias extension trick because of its simplicity. You can also try FlyZip XR to send your applications to the card if you want. It also works great with the UX.
I use both methods, AliasExt & PowerRun.
Usually AliasExt does the trick by storing most apps in internal memory.
There are some exceptions, applications that when executed, will automatically leave a copy inside the RAM even after exiting the application. For rare cases like these, I use PowerRun. & it gets the job done. :)

For those using AliasExt is there any way to move Netfront to memory stick instead of on Palm of a UX50? I thought Power run would enable me to do that.

Eddy, I've most of Netfront to VMS 397k still shows I'm okay w/ that compared to the 18 and 25k that was showing. I've used File Z and McFile to delete Clie Demo, but it keeps showing back up. What do they mean by manually delete from internal media? I'm missing something.

Ok, I'm off a step. I thought I was able to move Netfront3.1, but whenever I moved it to internal memory, it became Netfront 3. Any advice?

***Follow the below instructions at your own risk***
You'd have to use McFile to delete files under internal Media's /System/Palm/AliasExt/ClieDemo/ where there should be 2 files, ClieDemo.prc & FlashLib.prc.
Then also delete files under Internal Media's /System/Palm/App/ClieDemo/ which is the file INDEX.SWF.
Imediately without reset, use Filez & select the file name *.ClieDemo, click into "details" & tab on delete. Exit back to HOME screen then perform a Soft-reset after, this should do the trick.
Just remember that the original files can be recovered from the CD-ROM that came with your UX50.
P.S. As with NetFront3.1, I only have it residing in RAM.
Hope the above helped. :)

It helps alot. Thanks. BTW Power run or ZLaunch? I understand that power run can actually move the files and you seem to use Power run and AliasExt at times. I already have two programs that can do a combination of most of these. I have MyWorkbench (which has been too complicated for me to use even 1/2 of it) and Palm Commander which I got for the button mapper and compression years ago.

One question: can you move all files (databases etc.) apart from program files using the alias ext trick? if that can be done.. how do you know which files correspond to one application??
One question: can you move all files (databases etc.) apart from program files using the alias ext trick? if that can be done.. how do you know which files correspond to one application??
I use "AliasExt trick" for many big size applications.
Eg. for WarFare Inc., there're several big database files that are required.
I would use McFile & within Internal Media, under the /System/Palm/AliasExt/, create a new folder name "warfare".
Which I would then put the program file (along with all the related database files) within that new folder which should look something like this.../System/Palm/AliasExt/warfare/
& I'd do the above procedure for other programs, with associated databases, likewise.
I use SlovoEd as my French-English dictionary, & so I'd have another folder named SlovoEd where I combine all the datebase files with the original program within directory /System/Palm/AliasExt/SlovoEd.
With this method, you won't get mixed up with "which database goes with application?" since there's always a seperate sub folder for each application, with the associated databases.
Whereas for applications that are made of single files, such as McFile, I simply put it under /Palm/Programs/AliasExt/. Therefore saving myself from the hassle of making a new sub folder just for that one single file. (Well, these are just personal preferences.) :)
So as you see here, there're 2 different method to using AliasExt.
1) /System/Palm/AliasExt/ (where you would create a new sub folder, to group the original program with all the associate databases.)
2) /Palm/Programs/AliasExt/ (a much more direct approach to using AliasExt)

Thanks a lot for your kind explanations Eddy. It's clear for me know.
However, once you have one app runnning on the RAM (let's say for example Documents To Go) and you want to apply the AliasExt Trick, how do you know which files you should move along? With ZLauncher it's simple, because it "knows" all the related databases and files
Any advice on this? Thanks again ;)
hum. Sorry can't really help you out on that one. ;)
But usually it's not too hard to know which database belongs to which application.
One way for you to check is under PowerSave's "advance mode", you can see which files were updated after you've use a certain application.
Recently I just use the AliasExt trick for installing new application. & I use AppShelf as my basic launcher. ;)
But specific applications such as DocsToGo, it's best to leave it in RAM, or with the ZLauncher's shortcut function you're using. Since I've tried putting DocsToGo in Internal Media, everything appears fine at first, even Hotsync without problems. However, the database of your expenses don't actually get updated with the PC (the data remains the same since you've last Hotsync, & disgards all the new information you put into it. Least that was from my limited experience.) & the same applies if you try to use DocsToGo with PowerRun, your data don't update themselves.:(
