Looks like T-mobile finally figured out how to cut off http access through their WAP service. So no more Web surfing through T-zones (http://www.t-mobile.com/services/tzones/serviceoverview.asp) it seems.
Now they have two plans:
Unlimited t-zones
(includes Internet POP3 e-mail)
$4.99
Unlimited t-zones pro
(includes access to corporate e-mail, contacts, and calendar)
$9.99
Of course, this begs the question: Will Unlimited t-zones pro allow http access? I guess I'll find out (signing up today). Bye Bye $4.99 Web access...

This was being discussed over at Brighthand, and somebody said the $4.99 plan would work with the same settings as the free WAP... Please let me know if this is your experience so I can decide whether to go for this deal or not.

HTTP still doesn't work and I switched to the $9.99 plan yesterday.
Renaissance Guy: Can you point me to the thread over at Brighthand? I couldn't find it over there. Thanks if possible.

This thread (http://discussion.brighthand.com/palmhandhelds/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54490) starts off telling how to configure your handheld for the free WAP, but turns into a discussion of the service not being free anymore. On page 3 Bill Gamble says it should still work with Unlimited Tzones.

Nothing like answering my own emails but... I wrote Tmobile and they wrote back:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.
We understand that in the past you were able to access WAP sites from your
phone without being a T-Zones subscriber. We have made some changes in our system that now requires the subscription to T-Zones in order for you to have access
to WAP sites that are not T-Mobile affiliated. We currently offer the following
T-Zones features:..."

It's Wednesday 3:26 EST and Tmobile is allowing HTTP access. And I do NOT have any T-zones subscription! So everything is completely 180 degrees from last week. It works now with ZERO Tzones signup. My Zire 72/Web Pro just logged in and displayed CNN's latest news page. Check out my service plan (or lack of it):

Funny - I tried to connect this morning & couldn't (to get my email) so I reluctantly signed up for the $4.99 T-Zones. Now I can get my mail.

I did the same as you, Vidge, after trying unsuccessfully to get online Sunday night (my power went out during the hurricane and I needed my internet fix!). Now the $4.99 plan is working out fine, and hopefully will continue to do so...

I am jacked. I had the gprs plan $20 for the last year and just noticed I was getting hit for another 30 buck for text messages telling me I got emails. I just need to check email on my phone and pda not web surfing needed. so tmobile switched me to the Pro plan. Now I can't log onto my mail servers via the PDA. Tmobile rep says it is not possible on the pro plan (which means nothing) they are wrong 95% of the time.
Whats the word on this. and if it is possible on the pro plan how do you set it up
