(Note: This thread is also in the TG-series forum...)
It seems everyone is calling for Hi-Res+ in a Sony device. How is Sony going to know we want this so bad unless we tell them? I'm sure they have an idea, but just to make sure-- it's time to tell them.
I've written up a sample petition that I want people to read over and approve. I'll write up a little script so people can choose the device they currently own/don't own, how long and maybe some other things and the petition script will modify itself. Then we can collect them and send them off (mail or email, user's choice) to Sony.
Here's the script in the original, sparse draft. It's not the best writting in the world, but it hits the main points. Please feel free to submit any changes/modifications/additions as you see fit...

Ha, good luck getting sony to do anything about that, and I don't agree that the tg50 will best suit 90% of the market, I think it is hideous and downright disgusting. However,I wish you the best of luck in your "petition to Sony." LOL

an interesting letter but i'm not sure of the impact. i think a letter/petition showing that spoof handheld that was up a while back that had all of these features would be more targeted. show them, this is what i have, this is what's good, this isn't so hot, and this is the product that we would buy and gladly refer anyone we see to purchase for themselves. I myself have referred people away from the 665 that i own because the needed something else, but anything i have referred them away on was included no this spoof model. not sure where the parody is so a link might be handy or the newer readers if someone remembers where it is.
Way to go, Quiller. The machine you describe is exactly what I would like to see in a PDA. I would even be glad to give up the mp3, video and what have you just to get a pda that would work forever on one charge, and have that all important virtual graffiti.

my *only* requirements for my perfect PDA:
- 16mb (15mb usable)
- 320x480 Hi-Res+ screen
- OS5 or later
- 200mhz CPU or greater
- Stereo sound; not necessarily MP3
- 14 day charge at 30 minutes a day
- External storage at least 256mb
- Under 5.5oz and .5" depth

rick, you want to go from 16mb to 256mb? why not ask for something doable, like 32mb or (possibly) 64mb.
on further thought, i will alter my list a bit...
- 32mb internal RAM, upgradable to 64mb

256mb IS doable~~

I actually like this just a little bit more than my NR70. I do use the thumbpad but not too much. The specs are nice, just too bad it won't get implemented.

I just gave up waiting for this machine (well I didn't have those kind of expectations for the battery life) and just yesterday picked up a T-665C. I think the T-series has the perfect form factor -- I just wanted that damn virtual Graffiti area but I didn't want an awkward clamshell with an unused keyboard and hidden hard keys.
The Garmin thingy with the GPS receiver was tempting but I didn't want to suffer through my monochrome 33MHz T-415 any longer than I had to, and the Garmin isn't coming out until 3Q 2003. Besides, I never needed a GPS up til now so there's not much point in paying double the price for something I'll use maybe once.
What really pushed me into getting the T-665C, though, is that I've tried Graffiti 2 and I don't like it. So I wanted to snag a better T-series machine while being able to keep the original Graffiti interface.
Maybe when that dream machine finally comes around then there will be a solution (even if it's third-party) to my Graffiti issues.

there is Jot, which i believe i available for Palm-- or maybe it is going to be available. Graffiti 2 might not be the best, but i think it is only a temporary solution while Palm solves their legal issues.
