Okay, I have a conundrum for you Wi-fi techies out there... here's a little history explaining what I've been trying to do. I got a SONY CLIE TH-55 a while ago and had managed to set up the wi-fi internet on it. I have a 2Wire router on my SBC DSL connection and managed to set it up so that I could also wi-fi hotsync my CLIE to my desktop. For those who are wondering how

I did, I used these instructions...

http://www.otakunozoku.com/wifihotsync/

Then recently I got a laptop. Using the wireless LAN card on the laptop, I can connect to the internet. But what I can't seem to do is hotsync my PDA to my laptop. I tried changing the IP address on the CLIE to match that of the laptop but it doesn't work. Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks,

Any firewall on the laptop (maybe the XP one) ?

As sbkjp said, check firewall settings under your wifi card in "Network Connections" in XP or your firewall softwares.

Beside that, you said you can connect to internet, but you didn't mention is CLIE or PC (I assume it should be PC), then how about CLIE? If CLIE also can't connect, that SHOULD be your network configuration problem.

Pls don't just said you followed instructions or tutorials, you need to tell us more about your network configuration in CLIE, PC and your home network. Otherwise, no one can help us as no info.

Make sure you follow the sony instructions for a wireless sync. If you dont input !! for the computer name then it will not work and if you dont have the other settings correct.
Modem Sync: Network
Lan Sync: Local Hotsync
Primary PC Name: !!
Primary PC Address: The exact IP address listed on your wireless settings

It is important that you remember that if you reset your router, then your laptop's IP may change.

Finally, make sure that you have network selected on your computer under hotsync settings.

PS: Have powersave mode turned off
