SJ33: LED can be too bright

Am I the only one who's noticed this.  I go to use the SJ33 in bed at night, and even though I turn the backlight to lowest setting, the LED beam is like a tiny flashlight shining right at my eyes.  I find it quite hard on the eyes, probably because they are so dialated at night. Last night I actually covered the scroll button up with the sheet.

I suspect it's this bright so you'll notice the PDA's on even with no backlight and the cover closed.

when you hold your SJ33 just put your thumb on the scroll keys and the problem is solved! that's what I do

I agree with you on that; that LED is darned bright!

I'm wondering if a patch could be created which would turn the LED off when in normal operating mode.

Leave it on if the MP3 player is playing music and the screen is off; otherwise I'm pretty sure I know when my SJ-33 is on and I'm using it.

That's a great idea!  I realize now that I'd always gripped the PDA on the sides.  This method of pinching even right above the scroll, is plenty secure, yet covers the LED.  Thanks for the idea.:)
