I am getting the UX-50. I am so happy i can;t show it over this thread !!!!
:) The only store by me that sells it is officemax but it is $699!?!?!?!? http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prodBlock.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansionOID=-536906027&prodBlockOID=537143556 I mean i don't swear that much but what the %#@$!?!??!?! I really want to get the UX-50 but i want to wait and find the best price. I would like to go to an actual store to buy it, i am still a little nervous about buying online, but if it is over the phone, its ok. I might sound kind of picky but i really want one, just nor for $699! Will guys please help me find a decently priced UX-50?

Thanks,
Andrew

Got mine from ebay too but i paid $445.00. Which is not bad at all. it looks just like new and work like new. You will have a hard time to find ux50 in the store since it is a discontinue item.

I got mine refurbished from Best Options Direct for $430 + Shipping.
They were very prompt and easy to deal with. They shipped the next day. I highly recommend them over Comp-U-Plus.

I did a lot of looking, and 90% of the units for sale on web stores are refurbished units... But from the way I understand it, Sony got a lot of store returns on these because they were so complicated. (read: People are stupid and can't RTFM.)

Note: I mean, they are Sony boxed refurbished Clie's, with the OEM seal still intact.

Its only $415.00 over at compu-america.com, http://www.compu-america.com/ProdDisplay.asp?CatID=5&ProdID=7986&ExportID=15 . Not bad at all. Has anyone bought anything from compuplus? Can i trust them? And also, is a refurbished unit ok or is there a chance of it having scratches and stuff?

Thanks

I I'm getting my UX50 from overstock.com along with their 2-year extended warranty. It isn't the cheapest solution (total $475.98), but you end up with a better warranty than if you bought a brand new one!! :)

Yes, I highly recommend Best Options, I looked at several of the online retailers, and they seemed the best. I looked their BBB record over, and I think they had a total of two complaints they were quickly resolved. Correct contact information for the owner was also listed. I placed the order on a Tuesday around 2 PM, it shipped 7 PM and I had it at Noon on Thursday. The units are Sony refurbished, so it's just like a new unit. Mine runs great, not one problem.

I've had some problems with Comp-u-Amerca/Plus in the past, and wouldn't recommend ordering from them.

Watch out for Overstock.com, they don't actually carry their own inventory of Clies, so it could be awhile before you receive yours. (When you go to a web store, and it says "Will ship within 2 days." that generally means they are drop shipping your item from a separate warehouse, and are not keeping up with stock.)

Guess who just got their UX50???!!! Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! :D :p :D

I ordered it from Overstock.com on 8/17 and got it via FedEx today, = 7 days.

I can tell it's refurbished cuz:
1. the box says so.
2. I got 2 (instead of 1) hand straps (...I'll take that as a hint. )

Other than that, this lil pup *looks* brand new.

Now, how do you work this there thang.......

Off I go! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the UX didn't come with a lanyard

Hmmmm. The 'Getting Started' booklet does not show the strap as part of the box contents, but on the next page they show you how to attach the strap.

I have one question Timothy, did the UX-50 come with all the software a documentation that a brand new Ux-50 from a store would come with? Im kind-of naive on the subject.

I check to see any replies to my question, but found none  , so ill ask it again :D . Does a refurbished UX-50 come with the original manuals, documentation, and setup cd? Because im thinking about getting a refurbished one form best option direct, but just wanted to know if i get those listed things with it. All replies are welcome. :)

Thanks

Yep. You get a box full of all original contents. (Just make sure it was refurbished by Sony.)

Thanks IntrinsicFactor,
Thats all I wanted to hear. Now i just have to save up 415 dollars for the UX-50, currently have 306.50 in my "Andrew needs a UX-50" fund, haha :p :D . It will probably take some time to save up the money, :( :D . Anybody who sees this thread, please keep on giving updates on prices, comments, stores, anything else for a UX-50 buyer, not just me. I want to keep this as an ongoing forum thread for anyone who is going to get a UX-50, so they can look at it and get good stores, prices, and comments. Kind of like a personal UX-50 comparison shopping thread :p . Thanks for the info so far guys.
Happy UX-50 buying! :)
Thanks
~Andrew

I can get a new UX50 for $492.00 from a Sony store. Is that a decent price for a brand new UX50? I've been trying to buy one on eBay the past few days, but I keep getting outbidded and some of the prices are getting into the high 300s/low 400s.
What would you all recommend? New UX50 at that price or a refurb'd one? Anyone on this site selling one? :)

That's indeed a good price for a brand-new not refurb UX50. Are you sure it's not refurbished??

Always always always go for the brand-new, non refurb one if you have the option. Sony refurbs are of excellent quality...but why go for a refurb'd unit when you can get brand new??

Yeah, that's for a brand new one. I work for Sony Online Entertainment. We get deals directly through Sony. I've been shopping around trying to find new/used UX50s. So far I'm leaning towards the new one at that price. Maybe I'll order it tomorrow :)

I went on ebay and found a used ux50 for $350 including shipping. It also came with an eb40 and 512 mbs worth of memory sticks with case. It didn't come with software or manual or charger dock, but "someone" :D from 1src modded my eb40 to a charger dock. I bought the cd and manuals on ebay too for 5 and 12 bucks respectively. The manuals were bound professionally and are better looking than the original me thinks.

Doh. Looks like the place that I could order from is out of stock and will no longer be carry any Clies. So I instead placed an order with Overstock.com for the UX50 w/ 2 yr. service plan. Hopefully all works out well :)
