Right now i have a Palm Zire 71, and am very loyal to it ;) . However it does not have wi-fi, and the screen is 320X320. I am think about getting the Enfora Wi-Fi case for it. (see my other thread http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64616 ) However. i want to learn more about the UX-50. I have searched around for reviews and info on the pda and have so far found mixed reviews and the lowest price, about $415. I want to hear your opinions on the UX-50, and maybe what is should do. Although i am a loyal Palm user, i am open to your opinions and thoughts on what i should do. I can take all the help i can get.
Thanks
~Andrew

I have never regretted getting mine. It took me a few weeks to get used to the screen size. After that, I never looked back. I have even entertained the idea of buying another before they are all gone. I probably won't though.

its a great pda for a great price. I got mine for 357 shipped from a friend of mine. It does take a while to get use to (maybe 3-4) days. But its a blast. You will enjoy the camera, the mp3 feature, the clamshell design, bluetooth, wifi, keyboard that lights up, screen so krisp and sharp. Everywhere i go i get whoa, thats awsome wut is it!!! Great for takin movies of freinds doing stupid things :p , also catching your brother bad mouth something about his freids and later on black mailing him :p a very nice gadget to have...if that doesn't do it. Thaks for the opinions. The main reason i'm looking at the UX-50 is because i am looking for a pda that has landscape, but the UX-50 has so many more features than the Tungsten T-3, and is about the same price. Price is key since i just bought a iPod, new click wheel 20gig $299 (not bragging ;) ), and am looking for a good price, since i am tight on money. Where did you get the UX-50 for $357? the cheapest i can find is $415. Keep on giving me feedback, id like to know know your opinions.
Note: Is that a problem that sony is heading out of palm os soon? Will they stop selling thier clies, or or will that mean the prices will go down?
Thanks

I think the biggest problem you'll encounter is finding accessories. Several people are looking for the extended battery (EB40) with no success. I don't think prices are going to change a whole lot. I have seem some vendors selling out stock at reduced prices, just to get rid of inventory. My biggest concern would be Sony's changing warranty policies.

same here. i have no regrets. i had the choice of getting either a TH55 or a UX50. Fell in love with my UX the 1st time i set eyes on it :D. never looked backed since.
though i did miss out on the incredible so they say, (i asked the TH members, one of which was winexprt previous owner of UX, who just left this forum :( ) TH battery life oust UX's by so much!(unfortunately). but there's always a solution to this where you can purchase the extended battery, EB40. as for the UX screen, it never really bothered me because this is my first ever PDA, really didnt need to get use to anything (though i admit, it would be nice if it was larger).
apart from that everything else on UX is great!. it virtually has everthing a PDA can have, UX50 keyboard with backlight is just one of the many plus points. wifi is excellent and has a brilliant form factor. with the right apps installed, its realistically the best PDA there is :D.
p/s im stil kinda upset now that winexprt is gone. feels kinda lonely without him (he'd alway's have something to say). though i only started to know the big fella (assuming that he is :D) he's been real nice and very helpful, i could've learned so much. appreciate what he's contributed to the forum. my hat's off to him!!
cheers:D

wow!! makes me even prouder to own the UX!! :p :D ..
the last i checked (im not sure if its cnet, been awhile), it didnt even make the top 5. guess they realise the UX capabilities despite the price :D. hope sony realises that too..

I read the review of the UX-50 on palminfocenter, and it seems the only drawback of the clie is gaming. You can supress other things like the battery, as you informative people have said :), buy an extended battery. But is there anything that can help make gaminmg better? Right now i have a Palm Zire 71 and am new to sony clies, is there maybe an accessory that i can use with the UX-50 to make games more easier to play? I am an avid gamer on the palm and the only thing that is stopping me from getting this awesome pda (no butt-kissing intended ;) ) is the gaming problem. Is there anything that will help this?

hmm? well didnt notice any problems with gaming before. really depends on what games you intend to play. warefare.Inc and snail works very nicely with Ux's landscape. bejewelled is not full screen though. there's always billards landscape, bike or die, Legacy, too many cool games to state. unfortunately there's almost no way to play GTS racing. you'd probably need some external keyboard of some sort..
hope this helps..
cheers :D

Thanks khad o,
That explains it, the only real problem with the games is GTS, but for some reason i thought there was more? However, since i have the Zire 71, i can play GTS on that no problem. Another question is battery life, i know you can get the extended battery, but i cant find anyone selling it. From reviwes ive read, when using wi-fi you only get about three hours until you need to charge it. Since the main reason of getting this pda is for wifi, is their numbers correct, or is it better?

If you're using WiFi continuously, without an EB40, 3 hours might be an average. I think I would get about 2.5 hours. If you are going to use WiFi alot, you must get an EB40. I actually have 2, so 1 is always charging. I never WiFi without the EB40.

i don't have an EB40 and i've yet to get one. currently low on resources so have to make do of what i have. just have to hope there'll be a EB40 waiting for me when i do decide to get one :D.
you can check out a previous thread somewhere about extended battery. i think they were mentioning about staples having one and ebay also. sorry i cant help you other than that, i've no idea where to get EB40, let alone with cheaper price. sorry :)

I bought them several months ago. I bought the first at NewEgg.com for $103 and the next at SonyStyle for $67 ($89 - 25%). The price was the only reason I bought a second. My 25% registration coupon was about to run out and SonyStyle dropped the EB40 price to $89. I couldn't find anything else I was interested in.
I am not sure where you can get them now. Just keep searching through Froogle.com. Maybe you'll get lucky. I've seen them go for $200 on Ebay. That's better return then the stock market.
