Just browsing down through here I see some old computer favorites listed as potential games and some of the best games currently out seem to be clones of old games as well (RifleSLUGs for instance)
That got me thinking of all the old games I'd like to see made or cloned to play on the road, what are yours?
My list is...
Warcraft - I'd kill for warcraft!
Railroad Tycoon, Transport Tycoon - Anyone remember either? =)
Sierra Quest games - ScummVM is so cool hehe
Cannon Fodder
and Wolfenstein 3D
Hypothitcal list of course I realize all of the licensing problems and such, but its fun to think about anyway. =)

ultima
It could go on forever, but that is all I can think of off the top of my head right now.

I would love to see the SNES game Super Mario World to be recoded for Palm OS 5. I know that the ROM could be emulated with an emulator but recoding the entire game would make it run faster and be designed for the smaller screen.

How about sim city 2000? not the crappy old version we already have. Ziosoft made it for the ppc but i doubt they would do the same for palmos as they seem to have given up on palm.

Megaman - from NES
Contra Series - from NES
A decent Tetris game (haven't found one I liked)
Sonic the Hedgehog (comeon Sega I know you can do it!)
Any other first person shooter besides Master Thief! (I can't stand the controls on that game -esp. needing to use the stylus!)
Golden Axe - from Genesis
there are plenty more but I cant thinkof them right now.
Why waste time naming all the games? Just to put it short as we all want,
Make an NES/SNES Game Gear, Genesis, etc emulator for the Palm OS.
TheSpies, SimCity 2000 wont be possible, cause Sim City 2K were the first game which were done for SVGA only (means 640 * 480). If Maxis would have thought that this game is playable with VGA resolution (320 * 200) it would have supported that resolution too.
Thats why the PPC version is completely useless, cause the small screen segment makes it simply unplayable.
Some kewl idea for a no fighting strategy game surely would be to get a 320 * 240 or even better 480 * 320 version of Sim City itself or perhaps something like Railroad Tycoon.
utah, emulation is limited and redone version always looks better. Think bout real Sim City or Railroad Tycoon with 16 bit graphx. Would be amazing IMHO.
DOPE WARS!..Id love the Palm verion to emulate aspects of the PC version. Being able to get different weapons and warnings when there are potential drug busts would make the gameplay much higher. A few graphics wouldnt hurt at all either.
And any games that was playable on the Commodore 64. Dont need to emulate it because the Clie already has enough power to run them (i hope im right)

you can already play Zork and other text adventures. You need Frobnitz.
http://member.newsguy.com/~hangard/frobnitz/
you can download the pc versions of Zork 1-3 + undiscovered underground (legally) from:
http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/
Inside the PC versions are the story files that can be converted for use on the Clie.
Rick, are you thinking Maxis released Sim City 2000 as one of the first SVGA only games (means 640 * 480) for nothing ? Sim City 2000 aint possible on PDAs til this resolution is reached. Otherwise you just get a completely useless slideshow with a fraction of the needed game area displayed like the trial at the PPC platform.
But there were more then enoguh awesome 320 * 240 games which could be proted directly.

But I got my kid that new Gameboy, so he is gonna stay with me if she kicks me out in the next few weeks, lol

Personally, I'd like to see more CRPGs for the PDA market... the long term playability really helps when you have chunks of time to kill. I'd like to see SSIs gold box series Forgotten Realms games ported over... the graphics really would translate pretty well, or so it would seem.
Also, SSIs fantast/ strategy game Dark Legions would be killer on a PDA.
definitely civilization (which is on the road hopefully) and horeos of might and magic (which is also on the road)
and it would be be _great_ feature to allow to play those over IR/bluetooth .. or maybe hot seat mode :o)
well and i almost forget => transport tycoon deluxe would be GREAT ! but come to think of it, there is no ppc version yet, i really doubt there will be any palm os version at all ...

I agree with skribe that an engine emulator for the old Sierra Adventure games (in ScummVM style) would be awesome. It seems to me that all the old ones are running on the same engine....and a lot of the old ones are only VGA. A ScummVM-type port for these games would be awesome...and I could dig out all these old Sierra games I have collecting dust in my house (I'd just have to figure out how to get some of those from 5.25" floppy to my hard drive.....) So, if anyone's feeling saucy....there's a project for ya. :D

I will not shoot as high as others in this thread. I'd love to see:

OK, maybe I will shoot a little high:

Hey did anybody play Buck Rogers on the Genisis? The PC counter part sucked, but the console version rocked, this would be a cool game for the Clie'. It was an old school RPG.

one game that I would love to see on the Palm is Swarm. I was on astrawares site, and noticed that Richochet is made by reflexive, so I stopped by their site and see that the aslo make swarm... this would be a very fun game for the palm, though high paced...
Since Astraware is working with Reflexive, it could even be in the works..

ZDoomZ - Runs perfectly, DooM rocks!
ZHexen - Runs very well, transient errors
Duke3D - Port only works with demo files, early/buggy beta stage
ZQuake - Too much for my T|E but a cool technology showcase
LJP - Long John Palm, emulates SNES, NES, GameBoy, Genesis, GameGear, Master System, and more... Wow! Still a bit buggy. Genesis, SNES are slow on my T|E, but NES works great.
GuineaPig - Emulates TurboGrafx/PCEngine, Sega Genesis, Gamegear, Master System, Atari 2600. Military Madness scrolling is broken, arrgghh!
World - Civilization clone, in development, very early
Simcity2000 on a SNES is emulated in LJP. World is looking to be a good Civilization type game for the Palm platform.
ZDoomZ, ZHexen, ZQuake, and Duke3D in particular are amazing achievements in porting PC games from DOS to the POS. Duke3D needs some bugs fixed but if ZQuake is any indication, it should be a perfect port. Hopefully the full game files will work in a future release. Being limited to the demo levels is crap, but more important some bugs need to be fixed, notably one with the brightness.
I also have some other games:
Bejeweled 2 (registered), Space Trader, Prison, Scrabble (registered), Chess Deluxe (registered), Sol Free, Solitair Unlimited: Additions, Black Jack, vPoker, Lights Out, Vexed, Blocks

I would be happy to see:
- Star Control 1 & 2 (space trader merged with plazmoids as a melee-combat similar to star control would be awesome)

- definitely civilization 2 or colonization
- elite (again space trader merged with shattered worlds as the combat/traveling engine would be nice)

What was that game where you had limited pieces of machines, like gears and pulleys, but even cool things like flame throwers, light bulbs and all sorts of things you had to make a machine with. It was awesome on Win95 but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. Would be a great game on a touch-screen.

If I remember correctly, the PC version of that game was called The Incredible Machine. You're in luck, because there's something similar (though not quite as good) available for Palm, called the Amazing World Game (urrrgh, what a bad name). Here's the link: http://www.amazingworldgame.com/.

Hey yOyOYoo you listed MegaMan. See this link for a free emulator to play MegaMan http://www.codejedi.com/bor/
I would love to see an old arcade game called "Gyrus" ported to the Palm. it was a space shooting game where your ship would fly in a circle around the screen as astroids, alien ships etc came from the center of the screen out.

Screen size limits. It would have to be re-coded for Palm OS. Copyright Blizzard so would have to pay them... Just play Panzer, it's wicked cool after my initial play through. I love the Iraq mission, hilarious. RTS though like Warfare but not sucky would be cool. Need better OS, linux maybe, to get a nice big multi-threaded online hand-held war game, RTS style with quick command strokes for building units and stuff like that, wifi or even bluetooth networking for multiplayer. Drooling thinkin about the game Total Annihilation, that would rock the casbah on a hand-held.
