Hi all,
I have a T615C and it has decided not to sync from the cradle. It will charge, but won't sync.
I installed the clie on another computer but it too failed to sync from there with just the default desktop and associated files awaiting in the sync. No error message, just a long wait and then an error message on the handheld after the connecting with the desktop using cradle/cable.
I have checked the settings on both computers and the USB connection is selected and the HotSync applet is running in the systray.
I do not have a cable, but have been thinking about buying one, along with a hard case.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, GM

I too am having the same problem with my T615 and USB. I did buy another USB cable and still they would not connect.
Next is to try a serial HotSync cable.
The problem occured suddenly - I don't think that it is software based.
Is there a common problem with Sony's and USB breaking down?
How does Sony handle repairs?
Cheers,
Steve

Check your settings in "HotSync" on your device.
If that doesn't work decrease your speed on your desktop. You can access this by selecting "setup" via HSmanager in your system tray.
If this doesn't get you going check your HotSync settings and make sure that MSmanager is available in you system tray whenever you try to sync.
ReIntall the PalmDesktop after uninstalling the current one. You will not lose any user data by uninstalling via "add/remove programs" It only uninstalls the app and drivers.
Hope one of these can get you going.
Yes, have the same problem. The Hot Sync dysfunction coincided with a day that I unplugged the USB cradle while the computer was on (though not mid Sync). Haven't tried installing the software on a different computer but have tried a new cradle and all the suggestions including uninstall/reinstall software. Haven't gone to a serial cradle yet. Appreciate any other thoughts. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I have installed the software on another computer and tried a serial hot sync. There has been no change.
It seems reasonable that I have a situation like SXS - though I don't recall.
If the USB port was zapped, it is likely that the serial port got zapped also - assuming that the same electronic component is being used.
I've resigned to having it repaired/replaced. Sigh.

My clie refuses to sync unless I soft reset first then synchs fine. Had mine since july and battery drains to 30% after 20-30 min of continuous use. All of the reinstalling does not seem to change this quirk.

my old handspring visor would do that every once in a while, except when it would happen, the visor prism wouldn't even charge. I would do a soft reset, and then it would work, found that out the hard way after searching handsprings support site. My boss' clie did the same thing recently, wouldn't sync. I did a soft reset and it worked..
[see above] + soft reset hasn't worked. I am ready to do a hard reset to see if Hotsync will work. How can I backup those damn locked files I need, like addressbook, todo lists, datebook4? They all have locks on them preventing transfer to a memory stick with MSGate (as far as I can tell). Since I can't connect to a computer, I can't install new software. My only hope, I suppose is to have one of these backup software IR beamed to me from another clie and then backup the files to MS? Any thoughts are appreciated.

SXS,
You can use MS Backup.
I've been having what seems to be the same problems. After several months w/o problems, suddenly I can't sync via the USB.
When I press the cradle button - nothing. When I sync via the HotSync application after a long wait, I get a message saying "The connection between your handheld computer and desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."
In my case, I can charge and my MS Import seems to be working. Also, I am able to sync via IR (although that's not a permanent solution) I can print w/o any problem via the USB BTW.
I've tried all the standard remedies:
- reinstalling Desktop (several times)
- soft and hard resets
- plugging into a different USB
- reseating the PDA and cleaning the connectors
I've been looking for information out on different sites and I did find this - and wondered if it applied at all to this situation -

I had the same problem. It just so happened that at the same time I got a new computer. All worked well on the new computer until I installed MS Export and started to use MS Import. Then I could no longer hotsynch. I had a friend make changes to my registry removing all clie references and i then reinstalled the Palm/Clie desktop. All works well now. I am convinced my problem was MS Import which I no longer use.

Sometimes W2K gives you this type of trouble. It seems that it has UBS protocol conflict under one profile if you have only 1 UBS port.

I have a similar problem, but it is intermittent. Sometimes, I'll put my T615c in its cradle and attempt a hotsync. Nothing happens. After several minutes, the PDA presents an error message indicating a timeout.
I guess I'm lucky. So far, I can work around this problem simply by logging out of my desktop computer and logging back in. I'm using Windows 2000 Professional service pack 3 on the desktop.
This is a recent problem. I have no idea what causes it. It sure looks like a software problem on the desktop computer though.

I have experienced the exact same problem as SWC. I have had no problems for the past six months, then last night, nothing. When I press the cradle button...nothing. When I use the silk screen icon...nothing. When I try hotsyncing via a USB cable...nothing but a time out. Will this affect all my future palm purchases. What is going on. AHHHHHHH!!

I just saw that you referenced my post on this thread. I've already replied to your thread in the General forum.
I also referenced my experience in another thread:

I am on the phone with tech support right now. Got in touch with a human person within two minutes. However, the sony tech guy has decided my problem needed to go to the next level. Now I am currently on the phone with a wait time of 92 MINUTES!! Is this a typical wait time? Yikes, I'll be waiting till midnight at this rate!
