I love Z Launcher, but hate the wait time when I am trying to access it. MegaLauncher 3.0 was nearly instanteous. Anyone know if this problem has been addressed or will be solved with future releases??

Zlauncher is fast for me. Tip from another thread is to make sure hi-res assist is NOT enabled for Zlauncher. Apparently slows it down a lot.

Another thing to do is to make sure "Auto sync palm/launcher" is NOT checked in under options. With this enabled ZLauncher will automatically refresh the memory card apps whenever you leave an application resulting in the "Please Wait" screen. When my girlfriend first saw that she said "Oh my, how polite" :)

I have had no problems with speed. It accesses MS very well. It could be a third party app your using.

if you have "auto-sync" enabled, it'll refresh apps on MS/launcher every time you go to it from a prog. Disable that, and its blazing fast - faster than any other launcher!

Yes, I would agree that the ZLauncher refresh rate is a bit slower than MegaLauncher when exiting an app, but faster than some of the earlier releases. Overall, though, ZL is significantly superior in every other category.

The screen redraw is definitely noticable on a 33MHz machine (with HiRes Assist disabled and AutoSync /palm/launcher unchecked). But it doesn't bother me as it only takes about a second or less.

The other advantages far outweights this issue.

My only speed issue is initial load speed. Takes about 3 seconds on my T665. I could probably reduce it a bit without a background and icons, but there goes part of the fun. I've made some suggestions to ZZTechs.

Just played around with the settings a bit and it definitely redraws the screen slower if you use zoomed icons.

Thanks everyone. It was the automatic refresh rate that was causing the trouble.

Please expand on this. I know about Auto Sync under ZL Preferences, but what/where is Auto Refresh Rate?

As I mentioned before, my only issue is initial load time. Takes about 3 seconds on my T665. Is that out of line? Am I expecting too much? Even Agendus, with its initial ToDo sort, takes about 2 seconds. But most everything else is effectively instantaneous.

I do use a background and an icon set in ZLauncher. Not using them seems to save about .5 second.

The iconset should take an unnoticeable amount of time, but the bg should take some time. And smooth(er) scrolling is possible without a bg.
Auto sync makes it so that it refreshes your MS/palm/programs/launcher folder each time. Try taking out your MS and re-checking the load time.
Also, make sure you have the latest version!

I know the refreshing MS/palm/programs/launcher part, and I uncheck this option when I tried zLauncher the first time. But still I can feel the slow startup, although I use FastCPU to speed it up.

After many tests, I noticed that ZLauncher will try to access the MS card no matter you set the auto refreshing MS card or not. It's just if you set it to auto refresh, the startup time will be even longer. ZLauncher will access the card when starts up, just tries to find out the remain space on the card, and displays it on the screen, if you set it so. It'll read the card to get this data, no matter how you set it. Maybe ZLauncher can have this option: when the "Card Memory" display option is deselected, it will not try to access the MS card. That might speed up the loading up.

Just my thought though.
