I have found a preatty neat way to assign the memo button in the TH55, without using any hack o DA.
Just download and install a shareware utility called Slap, easy to find in palmgear.
In the preferences of the app assign the program you want to the memo button, disable Slap, then delete it from the TH55.
The memo button will still launch the selected application as if it was set through the pref. panel.

TheGoGo allows you to do this as well. As explained by CliePet, this is because the app just sets the system pref for the creator id of the app to launch when the fourth hardkey is pressed (a mouthful ;))

It doesn't matter what program you use (doesn't have to be slap), as long as it sets the system's preference as defined here:

I looked for Slap at PalmGear and the only one that came up does not seem to be in the Utility area on Palmgear? It also seems to be some sort of Memo/Sticky Pad software. Is this the one you refer to?

I've seen WAY to many bad issues discussed with regards to TheGoGo to even think about getting that software nowhere near my TH55!

Yes, that's slap.
he purpose of slap is not just to change the app associated to the button, but what it's supposed to do doesn't matter here.
Just run the program, go to prefs then select the app you want on your memo button from the list.
Disable Slap and delete it.
That's it.

You can delete TheGoGo from your TH55 after changing the hard key setting, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

FWIW I still have TheGoGo installed on my TH55 since there don't seem to be any alternative apps that do what it does. Whatever happened to Sharkboy...
