My T665 keeps on flashing the palm logo every second or so.
I cannot do a rest reset nor a hard reset, nothing works.

I guess it will slowly die as the power drains away.

What can I do? I cannot access the damn thing, no kind of reset can be perfromed...

I will put it on the cradle to charge, maybe I can perform a hard reset once its fully charged? I am running Yishow and all other programs are standard stuff, no hacks etc.

Can someone help me out here please.
Thanks in advance.

Not more than 5 minutes ago, my 665 froze up. I tried a soft reset. Then, the palm logo started flashing. So, I tried a hard reset. A message appeared something like this: erase all data? yes- up button, no- anyother. I pushed the scroll button up and got a hard reset. Of course, I lost a lot of data until I hotsync'd and downloaded some software again.
As to your question, hold the reset pin in for 15 seconds or so before you remove it. You should get the message I got.

I remember having the same problem, getting very frustrated and then realizing that the hold button was on. Man I felt dumb.

Don't hold the reset for 15 seconds, that does nothing. You need to hold the power button, then tap Reset, and you will get that message.

In regards of the flashing Palm logo -- that means the Clie got screwed up somehow, and you will have to hard-reset it. Experienced that plenty of times, hate it to no end, use JBBackup to avoid. Well, not avoid, but in the worst case, go back to this morning's data.

Useful when you're away from home, too - if it happens, at least you don't have just a $800 MP3 player! :)

Try to remember the last things you did. Maybe you installed a new app that is unstable. That happened to me lots of times. The only way out I've known was to erase all your data via the hard reset button combination described by pn.

Back up regularly. Things like this are unavoidable, especially if you are a software hound who likes checking out new stuff.

stay cool.

You're right pseudo nim, I just realized that I held the power button after my reset. That's only the second time in over 6 months that I have had to hard reset. Anyway, all of my data is back on my clie after my last hot sync.

Damn you lucky people who don't have to reset. Every time my Clie (NR70) crashes, I expect a hard reset, and am OVERJOYED when it doesn't happen, hehe.

Cherish it!! :)

To Blazefire - Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was just about ready to get out the hammer when I read what you said about the hold button. Sure enough - soft reset or hard reset it kept flashing the word hold and then shutting down. I forgot the darned button exists and have never used it. I must have accidentally pushed it.

Anyway, I did lose everything in a hard reset, but that is a small price to pay since I keep everythinhg well backed up.

By the way, for anyone else's information, I think what caused the problem was accidentally trying to load a piece of software that was writen for Palm OS 5.0 (they sent 2 versions and I loaded the wrong one). I don't know for sure if that was it, but it's the only thing I can think of that I did different.

Again, Thanks!!!!!

just a side question: is there any type of memory stick back-up option like the Palm 16mb back-up cards? it'd be very nice to be able to put all my information on my memory stick and just grab it... i guess i could just stick my MS in my reader and move the actual database files onto it manually, along with philez... what default Sony app will let me move something from the memory stick to internal memory? MS Import?

BTW There's also another option when that happens.  This will prevent from any program to startup auto upon a reset which might be the culprit.

To perform a warm reset:

Press and hold the Page Up button on your handheld.
Using the reset tip tool (or a similar object without a sharp tip), gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
When the Palm Computing Platform logo appears on the screen, release the Page Up button.
