View Full Version : Broken power button..need to fix
My power button on my Nx-80V revently has broken...something inside i suppose because it slides freely and I can neither turn the machine on/Off OR put removie it from its now locked "hold" mode (the last position I had it in was on "hold" after I turned it off using a command on Yishow.)
I dont have this warrantied so I cant send this back for a new one. Can someone help me figure out WHERE to send this to get fixed? Or if theres a link on how to make contact with Sony to talk to someone? THeir websites are so confusing to me.
I was thinking of doing it myself but I cant find "star" screwdrivers to work the screws. ACK!

I have a friend that has a broken tj-25 and am going to canabalize that to see if they have the same power switches. I net you know if I have any friut on my quest (it broke after 12+ months of solid use iam bummed.

I had the same problem in April though I was able to send it to Sony to get it fixed. You're best bet is to have a machine shot make a screwdriver for you that will work on the star screws on the NX80. Open the case and manually switch (somehow, a little fuzzy on this part) to put it not on hold.

You can actually use a very small flat head for those screws.

There is a way to turn on and off the clie from the capture button. Look for default capture in the forum. Mine broke about six months ago, and haven't seen any problems without the power switch (well, sometime I get a picture taken when I didn't intended to).
Yeah, I tried that before too (actually Id hit the "address" button). But when It broke...it was on the "HOLD" position...sucks for me
Damn I need this screwdriver!!! Im afraid of using a flathead and messing it all up.
Anyone know where I can find it? =(

The screws that are on your NX probably use a Torx T5 driver

Thought that T5 referred to the size, not for it having 5 points. Torx have 6 points (almost like an allen with points).

you could try with an ordinary very thin screwdriver ... be gentle with it and it wont mess anything up ... if you are really afraid that you might do something wrong then you should send it to the repair center ... .. anyways, try with a really thin small screwdriver - you could try with the ones that are used for making spectacles or watches - they might just help ...

I had the same Problem also. Mine was on hold when it happened. I used a small flat pin and was able to switch it to the middle. Now I set the auto off to 30 second and when I need to turn it on I just Press the datebook key.
Good Luck
