Just wonder if the build on the TG50 was all aluminum (or magnesium - whatever material sony uses)
THe white part on the hinge of the flip cover looks kind of like plastic.
THe t665 is pretty much all aluminum so I hope the same for the TG50. I really hope that white part is not made of plastic or some cheapo material...

yes, the TG50 is all aluminum; at least, inasmuch as the other T-series models have been. some parts (the stylus silo, for example) are most likely still plastic. the flip-cover attachment also appears to be plastic. however, none of the plastic Sony has used in any of its devices (PDA or otherwise) could be labeled as "cheapo." besides, if you're buying from BestBuy or similiar you have a two or three year replacement option. Before that, though, you have the one-year warranty from Sony themselves.
Also... wouldn't a plastic cover-attachment leave a little more leeway for case alternatives? as far as we know, maybe that little plastic part comes off entirely in order for more secure and form-fitting cases? hey, it's possible.

What are the benefits between magnesium and aluminum anyways? Isn't aluminum lighter than magnesium? Which is more malleable?

The body is all aluminum, with the exception of the flip cover which appears to be plastic with a metal face-plate glued on front. Wonder if that could fall off over time?

I wonder if the metal part on the cover might work and you can engrave things on it... I have a logo I'd like to engrave on the cover.

The front cover is plastic with an aluminum inset, i'm sure it could be engraved, as the Sony logo is embossed. There is a plastic hinge that can not be removed, but it is some extremely durable stuff. Other places with plastic are the stylus sleve (of corse), The jog dial and back button, wrist strap connector, and the data port on the bottom.
