nope. i dont think so. you could try out launchers like zlauncher, appshelf, silvercreen, etc. very customizable launchers seems alot of ppl prefer zlauncher but i personally use appshelf. very nice customable app can change background picture, font sizes and a whole load of stuff.

I use YiShow as my launcher. It has it's own skin changer. I've used it on my UX50 and NR70v for many years without problems.

A third-party launcher is one of the first things I always look for when I get a new handheld. I don't like to pay for it though, so I usually go with things like CRSLauncher. It doesn't have picture backgrounds, which is fine for me cuz I find them distracting. Instead you can set the background color on individual tabs (which replace categories). If I paid for something I'd probably go with AppShelf.
Why Appshelf instead of ZL or anything else?? Just curious...

The major thing that made me decide to go for AppShelf rather than ZLauncher is the size of the program and complexity. I find ZLauncher to be too big and complex that it takes a lot from your internal memory, but it has very powerful tools. I went with AppShelf because of its looks and simplicity. I have other programs to take care of the tools ZLauncher offers, at a much smaller memory consumption. But it all depends on your personal preference.

love appshelf :D. i dont know what the difference is between the two. never tried z launcher. but i see zlauncher to be too fancy in my eyes. cktlcmd is right, appshelf is nice for its simplicity. i specially love the fact that i can set my background, ofcourse other launchers will probably be able to do this too.
i have a question though about appshelf, i've only recently got appshelf, so im stil getting myself around, i can't edit my categories. for example i've added a category called games and i cant seem to move in all my games in that category. sounds a simple question but seriously i dont know.
and another thing, i've seen someone (amux50, yes amoon!) put his name on the top appshelf bar. how on earth did he do that! Amoon help me out will ya. i saw one of your screenshots, really nice..
thanks :D

Hi khad_o. You can't move games stored in the card to a category that you created as "games". What I did was I renamed the "Card" category to "Games" and made sure that all my games were installed directly to my memory stick. So now all of my games appear under "Games" category.
I believe you might have some games installed using the alias extension probably. From what I know, the icon created by the alias extension folder can't be moved to the "Card" category of AppShelf. Correct me if I am wrong. I also think you might have send some games to your memory stick using PowerRun. If so, you also can't send the icon created by PowerRun to the "Card" category. I got over this hurdle by just making sure I installed all games to my memory stick and renamed the "Card" category to "Games".
I think amux50 just renamed or created one of his categories as "amux50" and kept it empty. He probably then took a ZGrab shot of the blank "amux50" category.

hi ckltlmd,
so there's no way of editing the categories? thats a shame. why put such a function if we cant change it? can you even run games from memory stick without the use of aliasExt or powerrun?

just so i understand you properly do you mean the changing the name "amux50" in the category box? because i didn't mean that. he had his name printed out in the center of the top bar!!. i kept trying to find out a way to do this, i just figured maybe its a latest appshelf thing :). btw what does zGrab do? it only takes screenshots right? or could it do more?:)
thanks :D

Yes you can edit the categories in AppShelf. Tap on "categories", there should be an option underneath stating "edit categories".
Yes, you definitely can run games stored directly to the memory stick. I use the palm install tool to directly install it in my memory stick. Just change the location from handheld to memory stick before performing a hotsync. After hotsync, if you check using McFile or clie files, you will see the game installed on palm launcher of the memory stick. These are my games installed on MS: Billiards, Chess Tiger, Gagarin's Mission, Micro Quad, Mini Golf, Snails, Warfare Inc., and Warring Nations. No conflicts nor crashes so far.
I don't know much about Zgrab though.
Hope this helps.

so can i install directly to IM (it is sort of a MS right)? i know about the edit category but i dont see the point of changing the names and not editing the contents (example add-in newer apps)? what if i had webro installed but i can't categorise it in HTML file along with netfront?. thanks a bunch anyways for your info. truly appreciated :D
btw, so do you know how amux did it. left me puzzled
update : i may have found a way to edit the content of categories. gonna look into it more. if you access the edit categories and add there are ways to catogorise apps.. try that out cktlcmd..

EXACTLY!!! :D
you move apps to categories in appshelf by simply dragging the app icon onto the category label from the desktop - the category list then pops up and you select the category that you want to move it to. Or am I being daft here?
ZGrab - yes - that's all it does - takes a screen grab - there are two options :: activate and de-activate

hehe..yes exactly right!! thats what i wanted to know. thanks m8rk. :D i did try doing this a couple of times except that i select the category first then figure out how to drag the icon since there arent any!! sorry for noob/seriously obvious question/answer. im stil unfamiliar with appshelf apparently.
btw do you by any way know how to display word characters on in the top middle bar of appshelf (much like amux50's screenshot, if you've seen it)?
thanks again..
cheers:D

cktlcmd, it appears what you said was true. amux did infact took did a "amux50" category and screen grabbed it. im trying to find how he did this and currently im suspecting it might just be a screenshot, no way to display name on bar :(
do you by any chance know how to put a clip on side bar?

Just create a new folder in the category and name it as "khad_o". At least you'll have your name on the top. Even if we can't place our name on the upper bar, it will still look fantastic.
For your second question, do you want the minibar to be located on the sides? If yes, just drag the minibar either to the left or right side of the UX screen.
I hope I was able to answer your question.
