Its a CLIE NR70... man this thing is a pain to bring anywhere... I've had it for almost two years now.

I use to use it to listen to MP3s when in class or while playing drums, but my girlfriend just bought me an iPod Mini.

I have a Mac with OS X, and I keep iCal updated, but the iPod Mini has a calendar function too.

So what should I use my NR70 for now guys?

Games? A dedicated pr0n-viewer?

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I have a question......

What are some of the reasons as to why you stopped using your PDA - (besides it not being cool)?

I ask because there are still some users who are using their old Plam III and by today's standards that's nothing to be excited about, but yet some of them still find use for them.

Why did you stop? What were you using your PDA for originally and what has changed since that time to now?

Hmmmm not sure this applies, but my latest trick is to downlod flash movies (from NickJr.) to entertain my daughter, who is 2-1/2, with Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues. Maybe you could find some flash movies online to entertain yourself.

FWIW: this is what I do... I use my PC to go to a site with Flash, and view it. Then I go to my Temporary Internet files and copy them to my desktop. Then, I use MSImport to put the .swf files on my memory stick for viewing.

Have fun!

I want to know when a Palm stopped being cool? I use mine for audiobooks, eBooks, schedule, contacts, calendar, games, documents to go, repligo, etc.

The Palm never stopped being cool or usefull, your uses have just changed.

There are more uses for a Palm than you can imagine, you just have to find the ones that are right for you.

Same here with my TT2, dunno why but I haven't had the desire to even touch it for 2 months...

For some other odd reason I went back to a franklin covey paper planner... seems more thoughtful, maybe I just wanted the simple life back...

I'm waiting for something to make me feel interested again...

Watching videos/movies, recording videos, taking pictures, flash animations, games, internet (with wifi) I think those are the most interesting things to do.

Do you use the PIM functions at all? My T-665 has been slowly dying for the past couple of months (won't hold a charge) and I had almost completely quit using it. I have been so lost and unorganized. I was forgetting doctors appointments, didn't know when school started etc, I was a mess. I don't use a PDA for coolness factor, though, I admit that is why I wanted one to begin with. Now I find it a necessity to keep myself and the kids organized. I keep track of the bank accounts, bills and grocery lists. I always have my clie with me so I never leave my list at home. Maybe you just need to start using it again, perhaps for different things than you did before. Sounds like you are in school, and there is no better way IMHO to keep up with assignments and classes. A dictionary also is very handy on the PDA...one less book for you to have to tote around from class to class. Of course movies and games are also handy and there are lots of those out there to check out.

well, this is the reason why I bought the smartphone or smarter phone :-) (nokia 6230) it has great PIM (much better then the basic PIMs in palm OS even with icons!), has got mp3 player, radio, camera (for still images & videos), has got some really good applications in java, web & email client, it can flawlesly sync with outlook. I don't need the pda any longer. why bother having 2 devices ? :-)

I stopped using my NR70 when I got a smartphone. Or allegedly smart phone (I330). Lots of trouble there. I won't get into it, but the failings of the I-330 make the NR70 cool again. I just got a new battery for it and started using it again. The NR70 is reliable, has a huge screen, it works, it synchs. It is cool. Not cool because of WHAT it does. Cool because it does AT ALL.

What application do you use for viewing .swf files?

Make a robot. It has serial ports for I/O. Can't get any cooler than an IR programmable robot with a working touch screen. My 2 ¢

nice way of looking at it... :)

ive been using my NX80V for about 16 months, and somehow, with the lack of multimedia support, no built-in WiFi (have to use the WL100), it just lost its "coolness" factor...

however, it is still the most versatile and useful PDA ive ever had - even more than the PPC Loox that i have right now (built-in WiFi and BT)... i even doubt that the Loox would remain with me for as longer than 16 months. well, of course, i still buy some PDAs here and there to put a rein of "gadget addiction," though

This thread has been around awhile, but thabridawg, if you're still looking to have more fun with your PDA, I would suggest what a couple others have said and sell it. I still have my NR around and had to use it for a few weeks when I lost my NX80, and I still bring it out for testing stuff every now and then. Whenever I use it, I keep installing what is to me essential software and getting messages like "This application only works with OS5." I never think of the NR as being that old because it was so ahead of its time, but its processor and OS are still of the previous generation, and there's a lot it can't do now. If you upgraded to an OS5 PDA, you would have a lot more apps at your disposal, which would be both useful and cool.

Agreed.

The Palm OS does so many things, and you can get so much for so little that any boredom is likely caused by limited hardware or a limited imagination.
