Does it seem to anyone out there that much of the problems discussed in this forum eventually can be traced to a faulty unit?
It seems that half of the threads out there involve "i had to trade in my NZ for a new one."
Is it possible that almost all of our problems from screen to battery are traceable to bad quality control?
If this is true, should we do anything about it?

Thank you. Thank you Thank you!!

Companies do make mistakes, but its awfully hard for them to fess up to it. They have high paying lawyers and the $$$ to wade it out. The We don’t Care, We Don't Have To Attitude.

I remember HP had to recall/buy back the earlier Jornadas because of claims it would do 65K colors, when it really didn't.

I just want you NZ owners to make sure the NZ is what its claimed to be. After all, it is THE MOST EXPENSIVE PDA in either Palm or the Pocket PC platform.

The Sony Magic? The Apple Newton?

Don't shrug it off.
Don't just live with it.
Don't look the other way.
Don't pretend everything is OK.

In two months, your NZ will be superceded with something else better.

That being the case, be darn sure that the NZ has no QC problems. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the Sony Edsel.

I think only like 2 people here exchanged there unit do to it being faulty and got another. Me and one other.
And I think only like 2 people exchanged it becuase they didn't like the way it worked.

So I think its having a pretty good track record so far. Although I personally think battery is still bad. Even if I don't use any multimedia stuff or the camera, I still come home with 70% in a day. Some people get more like 80-85% (and I got it that only once)
My friend who has the tungston and uses his to watch movies while at work and at 100% brightness still goes home with 95-97% battery at the end of the day.

it might just be the new type of battery that is in it, and people not charging it properly. That would be my guess.

Ohredmond- actully 4th. But Compusa broke the last one. :)
ImportLuva- Trust me, by the second unit. I know how to charge the unit. I'm not gonna return this one. I'm just gonna wait and get teh second battery when it becomes available here in HAwaii.

what I wanted to say with this thread was that of the people that are complaining (with good reason) on these threads are those with faulty NZs. not that sony is evil or anything, but that maybe somthing should be done if there really is a quality control issue.
with the battery, it does have a learning curve, and you have to have to be nice to it, but it is possible that some one out there has a faulty battery.
finally, my NZ is great, and I do not want to excange it, I was just thinking of other people out there

Thts what I was saying with my original post. Its not a whole lot of pople with defective units. But there are alot of people who will agree that the battery life could be better.
The new Tungston even comes with at 1500ma battery. Ours is a 1200 and I bet we could use the power boost more. hehe

I think you’re BOTH right.

I think SONY could have done a better job.

Smackin’ us with $799 and providing us with a 1200ma Battery? When the Palm T has 1500ma and cost less??
Equipping the NZ with a high drain Camera App?
Knowing that, Not providing the NZ Owners with an extra battery.
They could’ve/should’ve done a better job on the NZ-90 for being the MOST EXPENSIVE PDA on the market.

Oh well… water under the bridge.

Gotta go. I’m late!!

Redmond Out!!
