i noticed a simple document create using Wordsmith will be save as a plain document where it can be read by other readers as well e.g. Palm Reader.

But synching a microsoft word file to wordsmith will instead automatically save it under wordsmith format. Is there anyway to make it as plain old document? Is this possible in the first place? I would really love to read some of my ms documents in Palm Reader Pro.

thanx!

Are you referring to MS Word documents (.doc) or palm documents? wordsmith doesn't have native MS word support.

Reading them in PRP is not possible.

I like WordSmith as a doc reader.   I have read many books on my Clie in WordSmith - the challenge is to find them in .doc format.

Once you sync the doc from Word to WordSmith, you can then convert it in WordSmith on the handheld to a standard Palm doc. Just go to Menu/Save/Save As... and check the Plain Text (Palm Doc) box, then tap OK. Note that you will lose the bulk of your formatting, since the Palm doc spec doesn't support sophisticated formatting.

cool! thanx a bunch tb! now why the heck didnt i think of that before?:) don't really care about the formatting, as long as i can read them using PRP, i'm a happy guy!

i just learned that there's a proggy called Drop Book where you can convert text files to palm reader format just by drag-n-drop in your desktop. still yet to test it though.

You're very welcome. InstallBuddy will do the drag-and-drop conversion thing, and HandStory will convert stuff from the right-click menu in Windows. There are lots of good options out there to convert text files to pdb files.
