Howto ad-hoc setup?

I am trying to connect my NX Wifi to my laptop wireless card via the ad-hoc connect mode setting. Obviously I am failing. These are my setting

NX
Connection mode ad-hoc
channel 6
ssid ad-hoc
No WEP
IP address set to auto
DNS address set to auto
Power saver off

laptop (win2k server w/ D-Linksys airplus+)
Connection mode ad-hoc
channel 6
Tx Rate Auto
Long Preamble
Continuos access Mode
No Encryption

Any help/howto's would be appreciated!

Ok, as usual after you make a post you think of something to try that works.

What I had to do was go into the advanced setup on the Wireless Lan setup in the Clie and uncheck the auto IP address. I did a ipconfig on the laptop and got my IP and subnetmask from the card on the laptop, entered it to the Clie and now I am in.

The next problem is to figure out what I can do with it. I guess I will have to get an app to let me share and copy files. I don't hotsync to the laptop so I won't use that. Any suggestions welcome.
