View Full Version : wl100 driver
hi guys.
i own an nx70, and couple of pocketpc 2002 devices.
i bought a socket wlan CF card.
i was reading on some forums that it could be compatible, and wanted to try.
they (wl100 and socket) even look very similar, like sony buying socket cards and changing the sticker, HA!
if someone has the wl100 driver, please, send it to me.

thanx a lot to everyone replying

If you don't have the Sony WL100 card, forget it, unless your able to rewrite the driver. Many-many others have tried with no success!
You can find the driver here, it's 114k in size for the WL100 driver:

The socket card, the sony, and there is one other brand (that escapes me) are identical in that they are all made by intel and all can run on ppc with the same intel drivers. They even look identical (minus sticker). I would think that you have a chance, but only if you got the identical low power wlan card from socket that is also being used by Sony (i.e., not just any socket card). Let us know. We discussed this months ago before the big data loss. I don't seem to remember seeing if anyone ever tried this (correct me if I am wrong). I guess it is kind of a moot point as the Sony cards are now 99 U.S. dollars and at the time the socket and "x" card were all priced similar to the sony card (so why not go with the sony?). Anyways, let us know how it works out.

I will repeat, only the Sony card works! Yes, there are cards that are identical, but the clie so far, can't be fooled.

i'm pretty much sure that it's the same hardware.
this means i'll buy a sony wl100, sigh...
the card is not recognized, but it lets me edit the wlan configuration.
wierd stuff.
why does sony have to act like this?
grrrrr
anyway...
i'm very happy with my pocketpc (i'm a flash-director developer, and my stuff is better under CE).
but i want to use my nx...
hope a day it will be different

Thanks for the update (albeit blunt:)). I missed the end of the debate when it first came up. I guess it really does not matter since the sony card is now cheaper at 99. You think it is something they load into the firmware?
About Netfront (dare I ask) I have noticed I am getting less errors on the NZ than with my NX. You know of anything full screen hi-res that is better? I am willing to try anything to get rid of the errors altogeter. I have tried some, but like the full screen.

I apologize, I had a high Grouch Factor earlier and was on a tear. Bouncing around the forums, the same question sometimes gets asked several times a day. That was not why I was annoyed, nor was I annoyed with you, sorry:)!
