To All:

I put stylus into back of my T3 while holding down the up part of the 5 way D ring & I do not get the prompt to choose: Do I really want to do a hard reset?.

I just get shunted off into preferences screen.

This is a puzzler to me, can anyone help?

I also got a freeze of startup screen & then it went black & I had to wait until all power went out b4 I could restore fm B/U.

I am using the Jack Sprat/Jack Flash combo & did a restore of the image I had copied to the /Palm/Programs/JSprat directory. No help there.

Please advise, this one is driving me nuts & I need to be able to do a hard reset... fm time to time.

TIA,

i thought hard reset involved pushing the reset button while holding the power button down?

It does. Pushing up during reset is a warm reset.

Thanks for replies. I still have problem.

That being said - I believe that it is different on the T3, & seem to recall that this is the way I've done it, to get the screen warning me about the reset & its action of wiping the total contents. Unless I've always done a warm one thinking it is a hard one. I'll have to investigate further; but I still can't do whichever it is.... pressing the up button while hitting reset in back.

I did a hard reset by using the power button on my T3 (to test backup software - it worked, luckily). I did the power button-reset combo to get the prompt asking me to push the "up" button if I did indeed want to erase my device.

If you want to do a hard reset, that is, wipe everything out, you must hold the power button while pressing the reset, not the up button. The T3 is no different from any other Palm OS model in this respect.

To perform a hard reset (wipe all data):

Press and hold reset
While still holding the reset, press and hold the power button
Release the reset while still holding the power button
Release the power button
When the "erase all data?" dialog appears, press the directional pad up

Thanks everyone for your input.

To borrow from a Beatles lyric: Here I stand, head in hand, turn my face to the wall..

Please chalk it up to working too late too many times. I shoulda known better!

I sit corrected.
