I tried this out, and it looks great, but some of my icons are black, and cannot be seen against the black background. :(

Don't use the background image, it loses some of its effect but it still looks good against a white background. that's what I'm running right now.

Or, put up your own backgrounds. I use the CopperDeck II skin, but use various backgrounds with it. I posted some of them in this Source thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92&perpage=15&pagenumber=10).
You can use any 320x320 bmp file for a skin on any device, or even a jpg if you have a Sony T665C or NR-series w/built-in hardware decoding. I scarfed a bunch of YiShow backgrounds from ClieSource and elsewhere, and converted some of my own jpgs. You can crop the 320x480 backgrounds, or use them as is and ZLauncher will display only the top 320 of the image.
I have a bunch of jpgs now in the background folder, and rotate them as the mood strikes me. ;)

I mentioned this in another thread, and thought I'd repeat it here too. I went a bit further from tanker_bob's suggestion of using 320x480 images directly, and found that you can even use images that are smaller than your screen. ZL will just "tile" the image to fit the screen, and it saves you considerably on RAM. In short, you don't have to stick to the 320x320 sizes exactly anymore, it's just a "guideline" to follow :). I posted the info and screen shots in the thread that tanker_bob posted here as well.
Cheers.
