I am so tiered of my NZ90 that I'm willing to step down to an Ipaq. I'm sick of the undependable battery, battery life threads and it's bulky size! Im thinking about the TH55 but since Sony has abolished the Clie here in America, that may not be a good choice. As you can see from my Avatar, the UX was never my choice. And to top all that off, Cliesource is no more!!!! So my question to you all, what's the next best thing?

Help a brother out!!!

First off, try not to post the exact same question on three different forums.

Well, as for switching to a pocketpc, that depends on you. You may have a hard time finding pocketpc equivalents for all of your palm apps.. Also, you may or may not like the pocketpc os. You have to try one out before you jump ship.

So what if Sony has dropped its PDA line in the US? That's not gonna stop the PDA from working correctly. The TH55 is still a good choice. Just take care of it. If you come up with a problem and need help, well, that's what 1src is for. Also, if you buy from a large chain like CompUSA, BestBuy or CircuitCity ask about an extended warranty or replacement plan. I had to make a similar decision about a month ago. Stay with palm and get a TH55 or jump ship and get an ipaq 4155. I went with the TH55 because:

- My exisitng clie accessories would carry over and still be usable.
- I would not have go out and find pocketpc alternatives for my palm apps
- The existing selection of palm apps. is huge compared to that of pocketpc

I purchased my TH55 from Fry's and got a two year, no questions asked instant replacement plan for an extra $40. I also only paid $299 for my TH55 'cause Fry's had a sale on it. But I'm not so worried about Sony leaving the market 'cause I take care of my PDA's, I do have an instant exchange plan and we all have 1src.

Also, Sony said that it would continue to support it's current CLIE models.

sad and dissapointing that Sony dropped out of the PDA business...

...in my opinion there is still nothing (after 1 1/2 years since it's realease) that beats the NZ.

I will be using my NZ til it dies, then ...not sure! hopefully something as good or better than the NZ will be out then?

Absolutely nothing that beats the NZ, it is the most loaded PDA ever made. Until there is not a PDA with a decent 2 megapixel camera, the NZ could not be beaten.
However, it has its bad points. The battery and the great amount of non sensitive screens. I have one like that, the screen is great but you really have to make an effort to write sometimes since the screen fails once in a while. I just might decide to sell my Clie and get a good Palm with a separate pocket camera, (3 megapixels minimum)

I just noticed that the Zire 72 takes 320x240 video resolution videos.... has a 1.3 megapixel camera... plays mp3's, has all the other usuall app's....

..give it a little more time, i think the Zire line of Palm's will replace our Clie's. In fact I'd argue that the Zire 72 is in many ways as good as an NZ. It's smaller, it has better battery life, can take higher res vid's ...

...I've owned my NZ for a long time now, it's been good...but the Zire's are starting to impress me more and more.

-anyone use a Zire 72?

The NZ90 is just too HUGE. I would rather carry a small, sleek PDA (a la TH55) and a small digital camera like a Sony CyberShot or Canon Elph.

i agree that the NZ is large, but I'd much much rather carry just one device than two.

You mention carrying a TH55 and a small digital camera... that seems more cumbersome than one NZ.

You gpt a great point right there! I like the NZ because everything is loaded in to it. It could have been perfect.

The only thing missing from the NZ is built in bluetooth, wifi, and a cell phone. :p

Oh yeah, forgot that NZ90 has bluetooth. Still missing wifi and cell phone. I'm pretty sure though that the NZ90 meets the minimum req. for the wifi MS. Then all you'll be missing is the cell phone.

I use the NZ90 bluetooth to connect to my bluetooth phone and it works very well, as does my WL100 wifi card on my home network.

For me, the NZ is as close as I'm going to get to ideal. I have 4 batteries, the the camera battery drain thing is a non-issue. I have zLauncher, so I don't really have to worry about memory, and I have the Athena CF driver so I can use the CF slot for something other than wifi...

That said, these are the things I "wish" my NZ had:

A better location for the cradle connection

A way to eliminate useless Clie apps from ROM

A way to load better apps in ROM

A faster start up and shut down for the camera

A touch-pad where the Japanese card reader spot is below the keyboard

A *true* multi-use CF slot

Better function-shift key access (more readable graphics...)

I don't care for the Pocket PC OS, menu layers, etc. Been there, done that. I'm hoping to stick with Palm OS for awhile.
