View Full Version : Ok, Now What's Next?
I am so tiered of my NZ90 that I'm willing to step down to an Ipaq. I'm sick of the undependable battery, battery life threads and it's bulky size! Im thinking about the TH55 but since Sony has abolished the Clie here in America, that may not be a good choice. As you can see from my Avatar, the UX was never my choice. And to top all that off, Cliesource is no more!!!! So my question to you all, what's the next best thing?
Help a brother out!!!

Well you might not get unbiased answers asking that q in an NX forum.
But either way, you should start by stating what you really want in a PDA and go from there. So many people ask "what should I buy" but don't give their goals first.
Sony PDA's will not magically disintegrate just because Sony has left the US market. They will just become harder to find. From my observations in fact, it appears NX80 sales went ballistic right after Sony made their announcement. Yes you should give more "weight" toward other brand Palms becuase of Sony's departure, but if the TH55 still is the best thing you see, I can't see a reason to skip it. I got my NX80 after the announcement because I wanted all the specific features of the NX80. And NO OTHER PDA currently matches all those features.

I'm having a hard time believing Sony. I'm betting that Sony is probably going to offer just one or two PDA devices in the not to distant future. Instead of a confusingly diverse array of Clies.

Don't count on it. Sony may be out of this market, not a big deal. PalmOne is coming around. If they don't really embrace MM and other technologies, they'll die. But that won't be for another couple of years. Buy Palm now, watch the market over the next couple of years. If Palm doesn't keep up, RUN and go toward the Windows CE platforms.

If you have a bluetooth phone and enjoy using bluetooth, get the Zire 72. It's really great. It actually fits in your pocket! No more lugging around the big ole' NZ. I'm having a great time discovering its capabilities.
Regarding "the death of palm will be any day now" haven't they been saying the same thing about Apple for like -- hmm -- 15 years!? Palm screwed up early on but they're getting it right now. The Zire 72 is a good example.
