I just got a Sprint vision phone and have vision service. I also have the serial cable. Can someone tell me the proper settings to connect it to the internet. I know I read it before on a thread but I can't find it. Thanks!

If you bought the cable from TheSupplyNet.com, it should've come with a CD-ROM with instructions. I followed the instructions there, and they worked flawlessly. Here are the instructions I followed for my SJ20, and I assume they would be the same for the NX70V as the settings and other screens are practically identical.

For the Palm -
In Preferences, Connection Create a New connection name
Name: Vision
Connect to: Modem
Via: Cradle/Cable
Dialing:Touchtone
Volume:Off
Go to Detail
Speed: 19,200
Flow Ctl: Automatic
Init String: (leave blank)

In Preferences, Network Create a New Service
Service Name: Sprint PCS
User Name: web
Password: web (both lowercase)
Connection: Vision
Phone: #2932 (don’t forget the # sign)
Go to Details
Connection type: PPP
Idle timeout: Never
Query DNS: (have checked)
IP Address: Automatic (have checked)
Script: End:

On the LG5350 -
Open Menu
Goto Settings (8 on keypad)
Next under Settings go to Setup (9)
Under Setup goto Data-In (4)
Check Connection (1) is set to Off
Make sure Method (2) is set to RS-232C (COM Port)
Last, set Speed (3) to be 19200.

Now, even though it sets the speed at 19200 the connection still works and is a bit faster when both are set to 115200.

Now be warned. When I use the data cable the time is billed as Casual Sprint PCS Wireless Web access and I have yet to get an answer from Sprint if that is covered under my normal Vision coverage. Check with Sprint before trying to use the cable.

I have the same setup w/ Sprint. When I used #2932 for the phone number, I got charged for "Wireless Web Minutes." I also didn't get full speed 3G service-- only 19.2k.

Here's what I did instead:
Phone number #777
Username: <myaccount>@sprintpcs.com
Password: web
(The myaccount bit is what your phone displays as its default banner when you flip it open.)

In the Palm connection settings:
Speed: 115,200
Init String: AT$QCMD=3

I set the phone to use RS-232 at 115,200.

I also had to play with the auto sign-on settings on the phone, but I forget exactly what I had to do.

WIth those settings I get 3G speed, and because my plan includes unlimited Vision server, I get web access for free.

Good luck & enjoy your newly improved Vision(tm) :)

The speed is pretty impressive most times, and how can your argue with FREE for a price, right?

Best regards,
Zac Bedell

#2932 is for their older 2G "Wireless Web" service. #777 is for the new "Vision" service. I used to use Wireless Web, and it is *much* slower, and if you don't have a Wireless Web plan they charge a whopping $.39/min. for "causual" wireless web use.

Has anyone else noticed this? I know the "casual use" charge because my Clie once in a while screws up and dials #777#777 or even #777#777#777. The phone does not connect, but it shows up on my bill as minute (or more, if you don't catch it and disconnect) of casual use. My first month on Vision those charges came to about $10, so I called and Sprint gave me a credit. Now I get charged a buck or two a month, so I don't bother dealing with their customer (dis)service.

I have a 2G phone (old samsung sch 6100-it's old and i love it's micro size) anyway, is there a way to avoid the additional charge of "data minutes" by dialing into my dialup provider? This way I would use existing minutes on my calling plan? My pcs service is Sprint.

If possible what kind of connect speed would I get??

Thanks
