Can anyone recommend a software (freeware?) with which I can edit my MQV files?
I am looking for something that allows me to cut parts out, to turn the movie 90° left/right, etc.
Thanks

To convert mqv to mpeg.
a)
- Download TMPGenc (http://www.tmpgenc.net) and then Qtreader (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/4942/QTReader.zip) from SVCD Tools (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/4942/svcd.html). You may need to rename mqv to mov.

b) download MOV2AVI (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/4942/mov2avi.zip) also from SVCD Tools (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/4942/svcd.html),and then use encoder of choice to go from avi to mpeg (maybe look here (http://www.softlandmark.com/VideoEncoder1.htm) for some.

I have used method A a fair bit andound the quailty acceptable, and very easy to do. Your millage may vary.

The video forum will probally give differnet advice ;)

I don't use any programm to transfer the movie from clie to my pc!!
I record the movie (on memory stick), put the memory stick in my pc and copy the movie to the hard disk.
Then I simply play the movie with Quick Time - couldn't be easier.
I am just missing a software to edit parts out of the movies and join some movies, etc.

I have transferred a movie from my Clie to my PC. It shows up on my PC with the file extension of .MAI. Quick Time 6 tells me that it does not understand that file. I have changed the extension to mpeg and to mov and still had no luck with QT 6 understanding. From the look of some of the posts, it appears that it should be easy to watch movies on your PC that you have shot with your Clie. I don't understand why I'm having such a hard time.

The MAI file is just an image (the one you see on the movieplayer playlist screen), you need to open the MQV with quicktime.

MQV is a folder not a file. I transferred the whole MQV folder to my PC and tried to open it with QT6. Nothing happened, so I openned the folder and saw the MAI files within. So I'm back to square one.

I can't get the transferred file to have the extension of MQV, only as an MAI. I can only transfer the file using Data Import and treating my Clie as another drive that I can drag and drop from.

I just figured out what I was doing wrong. I needed to transfer from MQ root. Thank you for your help.
