View Full Version : TJ25 "flickering" when charging

When the AC power adapter is plugged into my Clie, I sometimes (more often recently) the power LED "flickers" between green and orange. Wiggling the adapter can affect that. When it's flickering, the status shows a battery level rather than external power. Finally, when its having this problem it can take an excessive amount of time to recharge--even overnight not being long enough.
Anybody else have this problem and have any idea what to do about it?

It sounds like your connection is bad. If the LED isn't orange, I doubt you're charging at all. Try cleaning both connectors with a Q-Tip and a little rubbing alcohol.

My TJ-25 started having this problem also, just within a few days ago. I will try to clean as advised, have you tried it and does it solve the problem?
Thanks.

I did the cleaning as recommended. That did seem to help. However, it turns out there was a problem where the power cord connects to the "DC IN" on the plug adapter. The space there was too small to reach with anything to clean it, so I ended up dropping the parts in an isopropyl alcohol bath in an ultrasonic cleaner at work. That appears to have fixed things, but I don't know what someone without access to an ultrasonic cleaner would do. Maybe use some canned "contact cleaner"?

Hey, very creative!!! Glad it worked. I know mine gunks up after a while, because I carry it in my pocket a lot. Just need to clean it every now and then...
