View Full Version : Clie stopped syncing with Outlook

I've spend about 15 minutes searching this forum for a similar problem, but have not found it. Can someone help me?

I have been syncing my PEG-NZ90 with my windows 2000 computer using Outlook 2000 for about eight months. About 4 months ago I added AvantGo to my sync routine. About two weeks ago the sync with Outlook stopped working. When I sync now the AvantGo content is updated but no Outlook information is shared between my clie and the computer. This is puzzling because the log indicates that the sync went well (see below).

I am confused. I don't understand why the log would report a proper sync, while the sync with Outlook fails completely.

What software are you using to sync with Outlook? Your hotsync log indicates you're syncing with the Clie desktop and then only the addressbook and To-Do's, so there shouldn't be any calendar or memo information going across at all. If you check the Clie desktop, you should find your addresses and to-do's there.

Assuming you're using Intellisync Lite, something has gotten seriously corrupted in the conduits, most likely caused by Avantgo. You should do a complete uninstall of the Clie desktop and Intellisync Lite after backing up the data in your Clie backup folder on your PC. It's also do a backup of your Outlook PST file just in case something goes wrong. Uninstall Avantgo from both your PC and Clie. Reboot your PC and then reinstall the Clie desktop. It should ask you if you want to sync with Outlook - answer yes and Intellisync should then be reinstalled. Don't reinstall Avantgo yet but try a hotsync with the four Intellisync conduits set to a one-time action of "handheld overwrites desktop" if the Clie holds you most recent data. Make sure you set the date range in IS to sync all dates or you'll lose data in Outlook.

Assuming that hotsync is now working correctly with Outlook, first check for the latest version of Avantgo. Download and install the latest version and see if things still work OK. Avantgo is known to corrupt other conduits for no apparent reason, especially if you've updated Win2K and haven't updated Avantgo.

Thank you very much for your post. I had time this evening to uninstall AvantGo and Palm desktop. I also reinstalled the the Clie Desktop. I am back in business. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I'll have some time to try to reinstall the latest version of AvantGo. For now, I'm just glad the important stuff is working.
