I am trying to identify a file that has grown very large in the \PALM\Launcher directory on my memory stick. It is called Col.fpv, and is 10MB in size. There seem to be a couple of other files that are associated with it:

MS - \PALM\Launcher
---------------------
Col.fpv - 10.5MB
Ath.fpv - 1.75MB
Reader_lang.fpv - 48k

On the handheld internal RAM there are several files that seem to be related to it and all the the Creator ID of FEP1:

RAM
---------------
Col.fpv.bv - 1k
Ath.fpv.bv - 1k
VFSBooklist.db - 1k

I would like to be able to delete the 10MB Col.fpv file on MS, but I am reluctant to break and programs. This seems to be an ebook reader of some type. I have eReader, and Mobipocket installed. Does anyone know if this Col.fpv file can be deleted?

Also, can anyone tell me why I have a file labled AGDocsMQ that is 10MB in size, yet my Avantgo account is only for 3MB? Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

The ID belongs to Franklin Reader. If you don't use that, you should be able to delete all those files.

Franklin Reader? How did that get there? I've never used it! Is this some sort of off shoot of Peanut...uh...PalmRead...uh, no...eReader, or whatever it's called today?

Could be...all I can tell you is that FEP1 is registered in the Palm Creator ID database as belonging to Franklin.

Is this database publicly accessible? There has been the odd occassion in the past when I've wondered who a creator ID on a stray file belonged to.

You need to be signed up for the PalmOS Developers Program. But that is free to sign up for. Here is the page for that: http://spp.palmos.com/iws/

But, there is a freeware app that works even better for getting this information, Palm XP (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=49914)

Problem is, Palm XP does not have anywhere close to all the Palm IDs in it's database, so it's usage to identify IDs is minimal.

Why don't you make a copy to your dekstop pc of those files and erase them from your palm and then see if something was affected?
