Is anyone out there having problems with their NZ screen not being sensitive to the stylus' touch? Especially in certain areas of the screen? I mean, in the lower middle area of the screen, I have to press harder than I would have thought necessary to get the stylus' touch to be recognized. I upgraded from the NX, where the screen was actually overly sensitive, so maybe I'm just adjusting poorly to the change?

i have that problem when the NZ is in open mode and you can use the keyboard.

We had a few disucssions about ti a few weeks back and it is becuase of the weight and it is distributed. So it is normal, but it can be a pain.

Usually i put my hand behind the screen to hold it steady and get bettter reaction

No, this is actually while in tablet mode. So I'm an aberration? Do you think it may be something that needs to be checked out?

Well have you re-digitized it in the prefs section?

If you have then it might br a defective touch screen, it does happen.

Sounds like a return to Sony to me.

Good luck

::SMILE::

I have this same issue...I thought it was because I was using one of the Sony plastic screen protectors...

Methinks they overcompensated for the NX sensitivity...

Here's a tissue, Lisabeth...:)

Hmm, kkerruish, now I worry. I don't even have a screen protector on it yet. When I do apply one, will I be able to get ANY part of the screen to work??!!

I've been having the same problem, and thought it was just me. I upgraded from a *thoroughly* broken in Palm IIIxe, and just assumed it was like a new pair of shoes, that it would take time to loosen up.

Well, I didn't feel encouraged by any of the responses, so I'm charging my new nz now :0

Hope it doesn't come with a new set of problems!!!

This is the end of my contribution to this thread-the result is that the issue was with the screen on my former NZ. My new one is nice and sensitive (not too sensitive), the screen is a little less bright, and the battery seems ok so far. So, apparently, the minor idiosyncrosies are unique to each individual unit.

I never thought the NX was overly sensitive, it seemed about right to me.

I have a screen protector on and have no problems with touch sensitivity with the stylus

Uh oh. I wasn't trying to start a conflict! I was just saying that my ex-nx was very sensitive, not overly so. I liked it. And my new nz is more sensitive than my old nz, which is good, since that was the reason for the trade. But I'm not saying anything regarding the nx or nz in general. Just problems specific to my clies.
LONG LIVE THE CLIE!!!

Okay, thanks. :)
I'm a peace-lovin kinda person, and I feared I had instigated.
When I refered to the nx's sensitivity, mind you, I liked it-the more sensitive the better. I went from a Palm VIIx to clie nx, so imagine the contrast!!! Now I'm kind of in the middle, so I guess that's ok.
And yes, I am happy, too-new unit is working well (so far-only used it about an hour).

Glad your new NZ-90 is working well.

Question for a Louisiana girl. Do you have any killer Jambalaya or Gumbo recipes?

Course I do, but assuming the clie world is not as interested, do you want me to e-mail it to you???

I just went through a few hours dealing with this problem with my 2 day old NZ. Reset it 3 or four times, it went from working on half the screen to not at all. At first it would not allow me out of the Welcome mode . Finally did the hard reset and it staggered back, and works fine now . Having just bought the thing I had nothing important on it yet, but for 800.00 you would think the romance would last a bit longer.

no offense, but sounds like you got some bogus software or databases in your nz... after the hard reset it is fine, and for a while? that would confirm that it was not a hardware problem ..
working fine after a hard reset with standard firmware would confirm the basic machine is fine...

did you by any chance try to feed a backup from a different unit to it?

I've had some screen sensitivity issues ..... ... but we worked it all out... with my therapist!!!!!! ... LOL

Actually I have had some screen sensitivity issues. I thought, at first, it was maybe due to the fact I was running wondersilk, the graffiti area replacement program. I switched back to the standard input and found some of the same problems.

This doesn't seem to happen all the time, but sometimes when not running the Standard APPS, it seems one might need to press HARDER than normal on the graffiti area to get the letters/numbers/symbols to track right.

On those apps.... where it seems you have to push hard on the graffiti area...... try this:

First go tap in the are in the application you wish to have text placed. Normally this is already showing a 'cursor/vertical-line'. That seems, most of the time, to re-iterate you will be entering text, and should not be so hard to push on the graffiti area to enter text.

I have this issue .... occasionally with my HanDBase Database program. I think it might be a little bug in the program ..... even though you go and enter text... you would have to push REALLY HARD to get it to enter. I found by tapping on the field.. and then re-graffiting the text .. it works great.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for your feedback gentleman . As you already guessed i am new to this equipment. The screen sensitivity problem seems to have a life of it's own . In the graffiti apps it seemed to work best while folded up with the screen reversed. If I have anymore problems I can still exchange it . Working through the problems helps in the learning process , so I will see how it goes . Thank you both.
