Greetings, all!
I cracked open my SL10 to figure out what the exact ROM chip inside is. Turns out it's a Macronix MX23L3212XI-90G - 3 Volt, 32-Mbit (4M x 8 / 2M x 16) Mask ROM (3V Flash Compatible Mask ROM). The "flash compatible" part got me thinking... I looked at the board, and sure enough, there are three seperate silkscreened outlines for the same pad - the ROM chip. Looks as if Sony can swap the flash ROM for a mask ROM - and vice versa - at their leisure. Interesting. Use this information as you please. ^_^
