7/24/04 (11:05 am): Just finished the major code revisions! (cut down processing code by 2/3+). Everything works except Custom buttons and macros... still working on that. I guess people could beta test it now... Here are it's current features:

1) Launch apps (that's pretty obvious)
2) Launch pref panels
3) Special features (including reset auto-off time, backlight switching, on-screen keyboard, all that good stuff)
4) Button remaps (allow your hard keys to act like your jog dial)
5) Custom buttons (coming, not done yet)
6) Macros (coming, not done yet)
7) Pen tapping (IF i can get it to work... the hardware coordinate systems are all different)

OK, so as of right now it's 88 kb...

OK, things are definitely looking good for SB! Here's an update:

-Works magnificently on my TH. No lag... (at least with the free version, still haven't worked on the pro)

-I'll probably have Custom done later today, Macros tomorrow...

-Right now, here's how i have my TH set up using SharkButton:

Jog Dial Up: Page Up
Jog Dial Down: Page Down
(for scrolling, this is the BEST)

Jog Dial In, Up: Jog Up
Jog Dial In, Down: Jog Down
(for when you need to use the jog dial)

HardKey3: Launcher
HardKey4: Show Menu

Basically, i can now use my TH without the stylus :)

BUMP THAT/anyone else interested in helping out-

After i complete macros and one or two other little things, i'll be looking for 2/3 beta testers to be working with extensively. Each one of these beta testers will receive a free Registration code for the pro version when it's released (the pro version currently adds Custom definitions, macros, PalmOne functions, and maybe soon even pen taps)

Macros are almost done! For those of you who don't know what a macro is, it basically lets you have one button simulate lots of buttons. So, for instance, you could have HardKey1 simulate 2 PgUps and then a JogPress Enter.

Custom buttons now work perfectly

What are custom buttons? Is this like the capture, voice recorder, etc buttons on the TH55? If so, is there still no lag when these buttons are redefined? I use THe GoGo to map my capture button for poweron and voice recorder to hotsync, but the lag is a bit annoying.

tnhh-

custom maps are where you assign a custom function to a button (ie your Camera button)

I would love to be a beta tester...please? I have an NX73V to test it on. I have no social life, so I could certainly give you regular reports on how it works.

Please PM me if you would like for me to help.

OK, UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who offered to beta! I'll need a variety of devices for testing, so it's always good to have many options. Currently i'm resolving an issue with handling the button presses, which will allow me to add some more, neat features (beta not yet ready). Will UPDATE again soon.

Anymore updates on this app.? Releasing anytime soon? Thanks. With SharkButton, will we be able to change the function of the 4th (right most) application button on the TH55 (I think it's called the "Data Assist" button)? I want to change it so when I press it, it turns the TH55 on. I know TheGoGo does this, but I'd rather not install that.

Also, I've noticed that sometimes after a hard reset and before I install all my applications on my TH55, this button does turn the TH55 on, but then it stops doing that after I install one of my apps. (not sure which one though).

Well, i've had a lot of work to do recently as you've seen (SharkSwipe), but SharkBtn is definitely on my mind. I've had an idea posed to me for a UI, and the database management can be plucked directly from SharkSwipe, so there are two parts taken care of already.

As I've said before, i DID at one point have a stable working version but the interface was AWFUL and it was WAY too wordy code-wise (130+kb)

It will arrive! regards, sharky
