I always double-check my links, checked it again after Wine's post and it works fine.
Very strange.
Try the http link: http://www.geocities.jp/g_isihara/archive/JpegShow_US140b1.zip

winexprt and I both couldn't open it. What does that tell ya? It leads to the Yahoo Japan GeoCities popups. I don't read japanese, so I don't know what they are talking about. They all look Greeks, I mean, Chinese, umm, Japanese? Thanks for posting though!

Yap. Another japanese popups.

May be something to do with your ISPs in the States. Works fine from where I live!
Anyway, use Wine's link to the home page for all the links if the straight link doesn't work.

OK, you guys are right! I figured it out: If I disable my firewall (Norton) I also end up on that Japanese pop-up! Funny how Norton just kills it and takes me straight to the proper link.
Next time I'll have to test my links with the firewall disabled. Sorry about all the commotion!
Saronnaya!

Thanks for the updates & heads up again.

I couldn't tell any difference between the 1.40b1 and the 1.30. Unfortunately I blew off the older version and don't see any readme file on 1.40b1. Can you tell? Speed improvement?

Jpeg Show is one of, if not the best free products for our Clies.

A MUST HAVE IMO. :D

Yes, I use that viewer all the time, even though I have SplashPhoto installed.
IMO, JPegShow along with Graffiti Anywhere, HRCapt, MoePaint, DALauncher, Smbmate and PsMemo are the best freeware apps out there.

It's great because it's simple, fast, WORKS...and does exactly what it promises.

I wish every app was like that! ;)

Let me say it again here like I said in another similar thread:
JPegShow ROCKS!

Thanks. Other than change folder, I don't see any difference between b3 and b1. Any other changes that any one else has noticed?

Regarding the 1.40b3 version, What exactly is the SysZlib ap for? It was never included with any of the other Jpegshow versions. So what does it do? and Do you have to install it? I am a bit scared to test it out since is listed as a Beta version. So if any has tried it already, and can explain its worth I would appreciate the help.

DanT

This is from readme.txt:
SysZLib.prc is the library which performs inflate/deflate compression and extension. Please install, in case you read the file of PNG form.

Whatever that means. JPegShow can now read Jpeg images from any folder in MS and RAM. WOHOO!

I went to /Palm/Programs/Zlauncher/BackImage and see all of my ZL backgrounds thumbnails :D.

Wytnucls

PNG is the replacement format for GIF. The compression is lossless.
SysZLib is the compression engine.
Convert your GIF images (No animations) to PNG to see them on your Palm with JPegShow.

JPEG:
Good:
Photographs
Game screenshots
Movie stills
Desktop backgrounds
Bad:
Windows application screenshots
Line art and text
Anywhere where fine lines or sharp color contrast is needed

PNG:
Good: :)
Text, line art, comic-style drawings, general web graphics
Windows application screenshots
When absolutely 100% quality is required (24 bit)
When alpha channel support is required
As a general replacement for anything that is a non-animated GIF
Bad:
Photos, in-game screenshots (only when quality is not important and you're looking for small files)
Disappointing browser support from Microsoft and others

GIF:
Good:
Where animations are absolutely required
Widespread browser support
Bad:
Patented, legal techicalities
Large file sizes compared to PNG for the same quality
Obsolete

What's wrong with your eyes? :D
Sorry, changed the yellow bits.
Here is a free image converter for those who don't have PhotoShop and are keen to convert their GIF images to PNG:

This is like an early Christmas! Version 1.40b4 available on same site as before. JpegShow now opens .bmp pictures! Enjoy...

Apparently, 1.40b6 is available somewhere. Does anyone have any info about it? Does anyone know where one can download it?

http://www.geocities.jp/g_isihara/

Or, and my Japanese is rusty (as in, I can't read a lick), is Jpeg Show now called GsImageView v1.0?

Cyker

It does look that was doesn't it? (JPEGshow turning into GSImageView)
I DL'd it and it seems like JPEGshow but with a different icon. Even the description is similar...

Soi

Yes, GSImageView is the updated version of JpegShow (or in Japlish, "version UP"). lf anyone needs translation help I'd be happy to assist, but I might not understand *everything* since I'm still Intermediate in Japanese.

Wytnucls

Jpegshow 1.3 is still available as a bare bone app. GsImage is the big daddy, which can deal with BMP, PNG and JPEG picture files.

If both are free and GsImage supports BMP and PNG besides JPEG why continue using JpegShow?

Exactly my question. I have now had both on my TH55 and have tested both side by side (I've used JPEGShow for AGES!) and I think I am going to go ahead and delete JpegShow and stick with GSImage. They both look nearly identical when using them. The only difference I noticed is in GSImage, the photo's file name is shown in blue at the top, where as in JpegShow it is not.

GSImage BTW...ROCKS! It's still amazing that an app this great is free! :D

Thanks for the heads up. GsImageView is cool. It seems faster than JpegShow. Definitely an improvement over the JpegShow.

Anyone tried GSI on an OS4 PDA? Maybe it is more OS5 specific...?

I'm using it on an OS 4 Clie (T 665c). It works fine - faster than JPegShow. It is a great piece of software - and the price is right :)

does it have more zoom than jpegshow did?

DanT
08-24-2004, 09:38 PM
No. The same 4x.

One thing I just noticed is that at the largest zoom, you can drag your stylus around the screen to center certain area of the image. While doing that, you can see the blue frame moves around the thumbnail image on the bottom right of the screen.

I noticed that launching GsImage or JpegShow by a hardbutton or by using a launcher as Hi-Launcher, if you press the back button you will be taken to the previously used app and not to the main launcher.
