Hi.
Here is my problem:
when I try to read files from MS my SJ30 crashes. At this time small light flashes near MS port. But I am sure this is not just a delay. I left it overnight several times - nothing changed.
I `ll appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
Anton
First of all, assuming you do not use a third party launcher, when you tap the small triangle on the top right corner of the screen, doe it display "Card" at the bottom of the category list?

 Sure I don`t use any launchers, but the Palm OS`s one. Anyway even if I do, it does not work.
Again, with the Palm OS launcher, do you see the "Card" at the bottom of the pop-up list of category?

Yes! Sure I do see it. Yes, card appears to be visible.

ANTOH, I can't help you, but can anyone tell me if memory sticks can degrade over time, or how to test full-functionality? If its holding data right now, is it possible other portions of its memory are no good- like a record? Or do problems manifest themselves in those little creepy problems and pop-up when you least expect 'em? I got mine used, which will be a bargain, as long as I can be confident that it isn't compromised.

Hello Anton.
Are you using the file names different from latin? if this correct, that is the problem.
Are you tried to format MS?
Best Regards
Sergey
The reason I ask about the "Card" listed in the category is to make sure that your Clie can read the MS. I have purchased bad MS before and the Clie did not display the "Card" in the category. CardInfo, MSGate, McFile, or FileZ should be able to indicate it too if Clie can access the MS. It sounds like your MS is okay. Then, there could be software problem, i.e., files in MS that conflict with the operating system.
I'm not sure about MS degrading over time. At least I have not experience it. I have 4 of 128 MB MS that I use frequently. One of them has been in and out my Clie for over a year. The 128 MB memory stay intact and I never need to re-format it or any of the MSs.
One idea to try is to backup all the files in MS to your PC with MSImport, then:
1. Re-format the MS.
2. Load one file back to MS.
3. Read it with your Clie and see if it crashes your Clie, if not add another file, until you find the culprit.

is it a good idea to format a newly bought MS b4 u use it?
They should have come pre-formated. I have used them right away w/o any problem. However, I have formated one or two when I thought they were corrupted, but they could be due to my fault. As they say, you learn from making mistakes.
