I recently began using a 1 way satellite broadband service which requires me to connect to the net via proxies (http, socks).
Because of this, I can no longer use Verichat and Snappermail (Although I havent tried V2). I emailed Verichat and they don't have any plans to include proxies in their options any time soon.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to what other apps I could try for IM and Mail? Worse still is the fact that I recently moved my webmail to a Gmail account and stopped using Hotmail.....and Gmail dosent work with Netfront (yet)!
Any ideas anyone?

Sorry, but a question? tell me about this sat.? one way? so you still use a phone line to upload? so the DL are faster? can you play decent games like Call of Duty? or the like? and finally would you do it again, I mean is it cost worthy? sorry no input for you, I have cable so I dont know anything about proxies, but my parents want a better connection.

Sat is ok....I am in a country whereby there is no cable. (And I am a part owner of the only Sat broadband ISP here ;)) Downloads at up to 2Mbits/sec, depending on the package you choose. Cost is dependant on where you are. Usually there is a tranfer limit, then you get charged for each Mb.
I use a phone line to upload (All local calls are free where I am- no timed or per call charges). There are 2 way sat systems, but the hardware is expensive (unless provided by the ISP)....the upload speeds for 2 way Sat are usually half to a quarter of download.
This is not a good option for online gaming or VOIP. Although great for browsing and downloading, there are latency issues for VOIP....and having to connect via proxies can be annoying sometimes with problems like the one I'm having with my UX50. Cost is usually fairly cheap....but if u reside in the US, cable can be pretty cheap anyway.
