The update (http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/tungstenc/tungstenc_update_30.html) looks like it fixes a lot of things...however, I have the somewhat dreaded MAC addy self-switching problem. This won't affect me since it's unlikely that I'll ever be accessing the same AP at the same time as another affected T|C user. What I'm wondering is if the patch will still fix the digitizer, WiFi light, etc. without decimating my PDA. I know that the patch directions say not to install it if you have the MAC problem, but I want to know if there's any technical reasoning behind that. I've been looking for this info for so long. Thanks so much for any replies!!

Edit: Oh yeah, I've already emailed Palm Tech Support twice and got no relevant info from them. Oh well.

Ni+Mh, is your T-C the international version? I am curious if the update that is available will work on my International unit (which I purchased in the U.S.).

There are several postings out there on the net about this. You need to call tech support and they should send you a replacement unit (refurbished). I bought my T|C used for a good deal, but it was slightly scuffed up. It had the mac address problem. The first unit they sent me had a messed up keyboard, but Palm got it right the 2nd time. It was a fairly straight-forward process and not too painful. Now the T|C I have has no scuff marks.

The update site says you need 20MB of available memory. YIKES! Do you really lose this much after all is installed?

I can't speak with authority on this as I own a T|T3, but I'm hoping that the 20MB is just temporary space it needs to hold files while it writes them to the ROM. Otherwise, I don't see how Palm can call it a ROM update.

Yes, after the update is made to the ROM, you delete the 20 MB file. You just need to make sure you have that much space available to store the update file, as it needs to run from RAM.

Thanks guys,
I was hoping that would be the case.
