Ok, so my NZ was dead yesterday from normal use, and I put it on my cradle overnight and I forgot it this morning, but when I came home to use it to turn on my TV, it didn't power on. I took out the LiIon battery and the coin cell and put them back in and got nothing. I put it back on the cradle and tried to power it on (it had the amber light on top like it was charging) and I got nothing again. I let it sit for a few minutes and it came on briefly enough for me to click the battery icon, and when I did, the big battery icon went from 0% to 8 % then to 100% and back down to 0% all in the matter of 2 seconds, and then it just shut off. This is crazy, anyone ever heard of this?

Ya I just recently started having the same problems, I hope it's the battery.
The battery seems to charge and discharge itself but after a little fiddling with it (making sure the cradle is flat and that the cradle is fitted perfectly to the clie) I found the clie to be charging normally again.
Also, my battery is at 86 cycles and of course 0% degredation... I don't think these batteries every degrade.
Hi!
sounds familiar to me, but it was a battery issue and/or a battery reading issue.
1. how old is your battery? Is it the first one? Some of them gave severe problems...
2. try a hardreset in the cradle while recharging: it sets back the software which reads the battery level and keep in the cradle for at least 12 hours to also fully recharge the backup battery. Only then restore datas...
If nothing helps get a new battery and if that does not help send it in...
Have you installed new software which might cause the problem, did it occur before?
hope that helps
cheers Nicolas

i have the same problem - sometimes...
when I on the road, i often use the external Batterie - come home put the NZ in the cradle, charging-ligth comes up and changing into green than back to amber ... from second to second... looks like the NZ or the batterie bekomes death!
I take the NZ from the cradle and put them back on the charger - a litte stronger! - the amber ligtht comes up and all is O.K.
I see this a lot of times after using the external batterie, and belive that the connector into the clie (and cradle) from time to time lost its contacts!?

Well, I think I may have resolved the problem. I did a hard reset, drained whatever charge was left in the battery, charged it fully and then drained it completely. It's currently recharging, and all looks well.
Schnitt: Mine was doing the same green/amer flash as well before I fixed it.
olo: The battery can't be that old, it's on it's 16th cycle, so I figured it was almost certainly just a software glitch.
Also, my battery is at 86 cycles and of course 0% degredation... I don't think these batteries every degrade.
It will degrade if you pass 100 cycles.
