yup i think that is who i got it from. Cant remember his name tho. Anyway the game is not the same. no full screen only a quarter of the screen. because some of the menu takes up space, plus the graffi area. And codediver doesnt work either.

Anyhoo, another alternative is that open-source SimCity clone. It's on Soureforge somewhere but I can't remember where. Maybe someone else knows, or you could Google for it :)

I have v1.7p of SimCity. It comes in PalmOne's PalmPak Game SD Card. It plays in 320x320 mode on my TH55. The actual game screen is smaller though since the games menu takes up some space at the top of the screen.

OK this is a difficult one for those who know how to use rsrcedit, but it is how ever fun and you will love the results! I know I did.

1. Open Simcity in RsrcEdit
2. Locate Frm2000, and select "Open".
3. Locate Gadget2008, select "Open", note the "Top", "Width", "Hieght" and "Left", copy these values down on a paper.
4.Click "OK"
5. Select "Gadget2008"
6.Pop up the "Menu", Use the Menu Button on your palm.
7. Select "Edit" then "Delete".
8. Do step 6 again, but then you select New, then Field
9. The values you copied down from Step 3. Input those values to the corrosponding "fields" labeled "width", "hieght", "top" and "left"
10. ID should be guess....2008
11. Press OK
12. repeat steps 1 thru 11 for Gadget2010(the ID will be 2010)
13. When done Select "OK" then "Done"
14. Exit RsrcEdit

Now you should be able to see full screen on your T3 without those annoying "flashes". But you will still be able to see money and notifications.


Note: Always make a backup before using RsrcEdit on any applications.

oh.. thanks everyone.. I downloaded from sourceforge.net myselft.. i downloaded 1.7. didn't do and "Make" and install the prc and pdb. I am using Sony Th-55. I installed the Sonyxxxx.prc file onto my Palm/Launcher and the pdb onto the the ROM.

The program can run but it runs strange. It might run ok at the beginning.. but eventually, I see the battery metter of my Th-55 suddenly appear on the top of the screen (the one at the bottom still there.. so, all together, I see 2 batter meters) Those icons no top.. there should be like 6-8 icons, like house, roads, etc.. when it first starts.. it has everything.. but eventually (especially after I clicked the Help screen), it drops to only 2 or 3..

anyone have similar experience?

Its only a clone of simcity, I can assure you that simcity 1.7p is waaay better than this.

Making it fullscreen inst that hard, the real trick is making the flashing disappear, thats what the guide I posted does, I´ll send you the "no flashing" ready game as soon as I get home.

Hmmm. I wonder if there is a way to make SimCity permanently 320 x 480 mode. Codediver is kinda buggy. When I open SimCity in 320 x 480 mode, then open the VG and then close the VG again, the scroll bars on the side and bottom disappear, so I can't pan the map.

The PalmPak has games on it by different authors. SimCity v1.7p came on that card. I don't think it was released by Atelier on their website or Palmgear or Handango.

for others, because i didn't make myself clear, delete (if you want, that is) rsceditor AFTER editing simcity. this editing is a must. read the first page for how. he explains it well (it was my first and only time with the program).

I kept my copy of rsrcedit and used it to manually readjust the screen settings in order to show the bottom scroll bar. The scroll bar was not viewable initially for me, though that could be because I messed with the settings before getting it to work at all.

The scrollbars stayed put for the ~10 minutes that I played the game after fixing everything. If you want to adjust them, open rsrcedit, open simcity, open tfrm2000, then click on Adjust. You should now be at a screen that looks almost like you're in the game (minus the graphics). Using your stylus, make an upstroke in the grafitti area to make the dotted box move up. You can make a down stroke, left, right, also to adjust the position. If this is actually your problem (meaning if the scrollbar is off the screen) then take a good guess as to how many pixels you need to move the screen. Then click okay, okay, exit, etc. and try the game. Follow the above steps if you need to adjust it further.

If your scrollbar is 'randomly dissappearing' it might be somthing else. There are some other settings for the scrollbars specifically within rsrcedit, but my clie is busy converting simpsons episodes at the moment and I can't check. Hope this helps.

A warning to anyone who moves simcity off the internal ram and onto the card... I shuffle programs around all the time and when I moved simcity back to ram this morning, all rsrcedit settings were lost and I had to re-enter them.

Well again it doesnt say which version, I would assume since it says OS5 PDAs that it should run, however the other PalmPak card for the OS4 devices is the 1.6, I would like to have it but NOT for $30 for other games I dont even want.

Well, considering that SimCity v1.6 (non OS5 compatible) by itself is $30 at Handango and PalmGear, I would say that these game cards are a good deal since they come with other games along with SimCity v1.7p (OS5 compatible).

Thanks, I emailed them to see what they have to say about simcity. According to Palms website, OS Garnet is an modified version of OS5 and SHOULD run OS4 and older apps. without need for worrying if its coded to support OS5. Which means IF I could find a demo of simcity 1.6 I could try it on my Zire 72. Not sure its running Garnet but thats what I would intend to check.

Hmm... when you move them around, do you delete the program from internal ram? I keep a copy of all my games on the stick, manually copy them to ram when I want to play them, then delete them from ram when I'm sick of them. Perhaps in deleting simcity, the settings went with it? In any case, I have it memorized now so it's no problem fixing it up now.

Well i bought the game card but to tell you the truth i cant for the life of me figure out how to get Simcity 1.7p off the card. Someone suggested to make an ISO of the card but i dont know how and my card reader wont recognize the card is even there. Since i cant find it to download any where can someone tell me how to get it off the game card i bought?

I ran the old original version on my 7Mhz Turbo XT, and we still have the Super Nintendo version.
I was one of the folks who got the color version as part of Palm's offer to m130 owners when the colors scandal broke.
I was bummed when it wouldn't run on my TH55.

Nope i think that the hires+ and os5 are pretty much it. Its bigger because of the highres graphics are twice the size.

I don't know what the differences are except for OS5 support, but the version of simcity on my SD card (I actually found it on sale at circuit city last week for $13) is 922k. Isn't the 321k file a black and white version? I'm just guessing there, though.

Unfortunately I only have clies so I can't even load, or copy, the game off the SD card. But at least I can sleep at night knowing I have a legitimate copy simcity in my possession... ha.

edit: update: I was able to trick the card into letting me copy the entire contents. I installed simcity to my th55 and at first, the game said it was unregistered and it booted me back to home. So I looked on the SD card and found a file called PALMRegSDMMC.txt and copied it to my memorystick in the same location as it is on the SD card. Then I ran Simcity, and whala! The version from the card runs on my OS5 at fullscreen. I checked the version and it is v1.7p (069) This is most interesting because I thought the version floating around here was a hacked version (which I guess it still is because it doesn't claim to be unregistered without that .txt file on the memorystick :P ). Anyway... in case anyone wanted to know :)

I don't know what the differences are except for OS5 support, but the version of simcity on my SD card (I actually found it on sale at circuit city last week for $13) is 922k. Isn't the 321k file a black and white version? I'm just guessing there, though.


yup... is around 922k-923k, and the version 1.6(321k) can be black and white or color depends on the pda you installed.

With that new landscape utility for the NX and TH i ve been tinkering with this to get it to run in landscape. I had it going kinda for a minute before a crash, It looked really cool in landscape. Basically i followed the instructions on the front page but i switched the vales between 2008 and 2010. Can anyone help me modify it so it doesnt crash?

I have been tinkering with it, too :) I have gotten it to display in full landscape with both scrolbars visible and the menus shifted around more to my liking, but it always crashes when I either scroll more than 1 screen to the right, or if I let it sit for a few seconds. I'll keep playing with it...

In steps 10 and 12 - How do you change ID to "guess.....2008" I can only enter numbers
Found this thing to make simcity work in hires+, you will need codediver and RsrcEdit, remember google is your friend ;-)
Just follow this instructions, this guide works only for simcity 1.7p, but you an use codediver to make some apps from hires to hires+

Remove the annoying "flashing" when using on T3 + Codediver.aka...full screen Simcity.

OK this is a difficult one for those who know how to use rsrcedit, but it is how ever fun and you will love the results! I know I did.

1. Open Simcity in RsrcEdit
2. Locate Frm2000, and select "Open".
3. Locate Gadget2008, select "Open", note the "Top", "Width", "Hieght" and "Left", copy these values down on a paper.
4.Click "OK"
5. Select "Gadget2008"
6.Pop up the "Menu", Use the Menu Button on your palm.
7. Select "Edit" then "Delete".
8. Do step 6 again, but then you select New, then Field
9. The values you copied down from Step 3. Input those values to the corrosponding "fields" labeled "width", "hieght", "top" and "left"
10. ID should be guess....2008
11. Press OK
12. repeat steps 1 thru 11 for Gadget2010(the ID will be 2010)
13. When done Select "OK" then "Done"
14. Exit RsrcEdit

Now you should be able to see full screen on your T3 without those annoying "flashes". But you will still be able to see money and notifications.


Note: Always make a backup before using RsrcEdit on any applications.

Ummmm... I don't think there's a file you can do that with... these changes listed above certainly affect some kind of configuration on the clie but I don't know if it's in a file. In any case, I gave my TH55 to my dad a few months ago when I bought a Pre and I'm far too lazy to go digging through my old files for this :P The instructions above really are astoundingly simple if follow them them step by step after grabbing all the files available here:
