Has anyone tried Boxwave's ActiveCase for the T3? It looks interesting.

I'm a pda minimilist, and like a case that offers a bit of protection; a minimum of bulk.

This looks identical to clear cases sold by Proporta and JavoEdge. I purchased the Proporta one (because their shipping to Canada is very reasonable) and I like it. I also have a PDAir metal case but it added a bit too much weight and the side opening cover (to the left, although I don't know that it would matter) was a bit of a pain.

The main thing the clear case gives you is screen protection when the T3 is closed. Even though it's strong plastic, I doubt you'd get much drop protection. It adds about 1/8" to each side and doesn't add much weight. Holding the T3 feels the same as the original without case. With the T3 extended, you can put it in a cradle. The buttons are not covered so you might need one of the many programs that protect against accidental power-on. I use HandyAid myself.

For me it's great. It gives the screen protection when I put it in my briefcase. If I'm really worried, I have an old E&B leather case I used for my Palm IIIc. I can carry it in my shirt pocket as well. Just don't sit on it :-)

Overall, I like it. I haven't felt any push to go back to the metal case.

Thanks, Bob. I'll consider an order.

bobdd, are you saying you can fit the T3 with clear case on inside the E&B case?

Yes it fits inside the E&B case. But keep in mind that the E&B case was a full case. You couldn't use the PDA when it was in the case, you had to remove it.

For what its worth, I skipped the case idea entirely, and have been using the T3 "bare."

I hate bulk.

I tether my T3 to a belt loop with a coiled "bungie cord" so if (no, when) ole' "Fumble-Finger Steve" drops his pda it doesn't hit the floor. The geek factor of the tether is pretty high (okay, maybe it even rates a "dork" label). It adds virtually no bulk, though, and has saved the Palm from many a deadly drop.
