View Full Version : pls help with cradle hotsyncing
Hi there, I recently got a USB charging cradle for my NX70. I already have a USB cable which works fine. The problem with the cradle is that I cannot hotsync. However, the Data Import program works fine, in that it can map a drive on my laptop. So I'm trying to determine if there is a problem with my cradle, or if its just a driver problem. It's peculiar though, because the cable works fine, so I would assume the same drivers are use for the cradle as well. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Palm Desktop software (with Hotsync), but nothing is working out.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Zyll
FWIW, I've hit this with my cradle before a few times, in my case it wasn't hardware, I just had to reinstall hotsync in one case another time a reboot sorted me out, once it took a soft reset of the clie.
I see you've tried the first two already, give the clie reset a go.
Please post how you get on though - clie hotsync seems to be enourmously temperamental.

Also, if you are using windows xp, make sure that the hotsync icon is showing
This is not always the case if it's running, because XP hides stuff
If it is not, click on the arrow, and then double click on hotsync
I found this to be a problem on my old computer

I had this problem with my cradle. It would allow me to use the Data Export, but it would only Hot Sync occasionally, until it stopped completely. I had to send out for a replacement cradle (under warranty). Sony sent me a replacement, and didn't ask for the original back. I'm thinking that maybe somebody else may have had the same thing happen and decided to unload their faulty cradle on you?

If this is the case, and it's a hardware problem, try using SoftickPPP
This would allow you to use you cradle as a network adapter
You could set your clie up to do a network hotsync, except use the cradle rather than WIFI
You could also buy the WIFI CF card, I have one and would reccomend it
