Hello,

What are T665 users using as modems when on the road and not connected to a desktop or laptop (other than cell phones) for email retrieval and which email program.

I used to use a CF modem with my HE 330 and MultiMail Pro. I'm a bit at a loss now with the T665.

Is there a MS modem available anywhere ?

Thanks for you attention.

Christian.

I don't know of any other modem for clies than the IR or Bluetooth connection to a cell phone. There is an adapter available so that you can plug in a regular line to it using the IR port (from Psion), but that's about it.

stay cool.

I have a Psion R/F modem. It works off of a land line. I previously used it with my T615 and my M505. It still will connect with my T665.

As far as a program I use MultiMail. Forgot that in my last post.

SupplyNet sells cables for most cellphones to tether to your Sony Clie for $39.95. Verizon Wireless provides an ISP and supports POP3 at no charge. You're just using your plan minutes when connected (nights/weekends free). That's a relatively cheap solution for wireless email. ;)

The other option is to get the communications sled (Japaneese version) available from shop.brando.com.hk which will work with US OS to a CF modem or similar device.

My T665C is rockin with my Pegasus III Infrared modem!

This little modem is thicker than the Clie, but smaller in the other dimensions...weighs the same....has built in rechargable batteries. works as a serial modem for pc's and laptops and is fully palm IR compatible.

I can send receive faxes, surf the web, ftp, telnet, etc at 56k. With the T665C extended IR port (due to the remote control feature built in) I've been up to a foot away from the IR modem without breaking my connection or degrading in speed.

See my full post in the Accessories forum on this board.

completely off topic, but i love the car, i've seen a few of your other posts and it's pretty nice, but i'm partial to talons.

Thanks for the compliment. I've put a lot into it. Talons rule. I'm trying to get my Clie to use the pocketlogger software for OBDII diagnostics. That would be sweet! Doesn't seem to work with Palm OS4.1 or 5. Suck.

i know this got way off topic but i'll still respond to it.

I actually saw a friend of mine that had his car rigged completely to be run from his clie. the doors pop open, lights on and off, engine starting, the whole works. I'm still pretty amazed and it's all through the ir port. the doors open by pointing at the door and clicking, then he mounts it in his car and it points to an ir reciever that is hooked up to his car alarm that does the rest. i'd like to show it but it's not pretty, it's all in a chevy s-10.

Has anyone been able to find a T665C to Samsung sph-A460 cellular data cable. Supply.net doesn't seem to want to answer emails. Their site shows a cable for the sph-A400 but I have no idea whether the phone has the same connector as the sph-A460 or not. I guess there are two questions here.

Anyone, please ?

Christian.

HEY! I drive a nice S-10, and I'd love to know how he wired everything all up. I've even considered painting my S-10 Corvette Yellow to match the lemon the truck really is (LONG story).

As for the IR thing, I would question it's security with other IR devices being able to open up the unit. Now, all he may have done is wired in IR receivers then use the program OmniRemote. Now, it would be really cool if it was all wired (or not wired?) using Bluetooth connections. Does anyone know if there is such an item as a Bluetooth to IR bridge?
