I am just switching to ZLauncher from Launcher X. I've tried it previously, and found the tabbed interface on ZLauncher inflexible. I don't know if the ability to hide tab names until selected, and change tab font sizes are new in 2.22 or I just figured it out, but I like it.

One thing that would make ZLauncher even better, is if the tabs could be placed on the right ot left side. LauncherX themes allow that flexibility. Can ZLauncher do that also? Does anmyone know of any themes using this capability. LauncherX also allows the side tabs to be shorter (only displays part of tab name, or longer so it can display all of the tab name (if not too long). This allows more real estate for tabs.

Thx.

ZLauncher does not have the capability for side tabs (yet), although ZZTECHS has said they are working on that feature for a future release. As far as displaying partial tab names goes, I don't know. I use icons for all my tabs, and only display the names for the tab currently selected.

The hiding tab labels and font customizing have been part of ZLauncher for a while. I haven't heard anything about side tabs, but they aren't really compatible with photo backgrounds.

Why aren't side tabs compatible with background images? It depends on the image. I prefer to have part of the side obscured then the top. I also find side tabs preferable, you know to each his own.

One other question; I know you can browse files on the card, can you also browse and operate on files in the handhelds memory?
That is another slight advantage of LX, however ZLauncher gives more information when browsing and seems faster on my T665.

ZLauncher Version 2.3 will have a full file manager that can browse files in RAM.

If you do a quick real estate analysis, you'll find the tabs down the side generally take up more space on the screen than those across the top. There are exceptions to that, of course, but for similar implementations this will generally be true. I used to use launchers that used side tabs, and grew tired of the room they took up. YMMV
