I just bought a NX80V to replace my NX70. I bought it from Sonystyle, refurbished, for $299 + tax + overnight shipping. Actually I'm worried whether I made right decision, or not. Please tell me, what are your experiences with refurbs from Sony?
I just coudn't resist - I've sold my old NX70 for almost same amount of money I paid for NX80...

Well, i have bought many refurbs, and bought a t615 clie refurb for my wife with no probs so far. Usually refurbs are fine and i have no qualms about getting them. As long as you get a decent warranty and such. Obviously check it out thoroughly and if there are ANY probs - return it.
Although I know there will be other Palm devices out that will be great, I'm considering getting a backup NX80 is I can find one cheap enough.

I bought my T665 refurb from SonyStyle almost a year ago and have had no problems. It came in the normal retail box and had all the accessories included. There was no sign it had ever been used. A fairly large number of refurbs are returns by customer who couldn't figure out things like how to plug the cradle in a USB port so your chance of getting what's basically a new machine is pretty high.

The only problem you'll have with a refurb from Sony is in your head. :) I've made several purchases from Sony that included my NX73 and my current Vaio PC. Sony does a great job with refurbs and tests them well before reselling. So don't let the fact that it's a refurb get in the way of totally enjoying it.

My NX60 was a refurb. If it wasn't for the "Refurbished" sticker on the back of it, you'd never have known it was a refurb. Still works like a champ in my son's hands.

My NX80 is a Sony refurb and I'm 100% happy with it. If I had to go back in time I would do it exactly the same again. And I'm not delicate with my stuff either. No case, all sorts of goofy system software... it's great.

I bought a refurbished TG50 from uBid.com. It came in a Sony box, with all of the accessories, and it looked basically brand new. I suspect that the above comments about PDA's being returned unused because the previous owner couldn't figure them out is probably correct. Their loss, our gain! :D

I agree with the others, I've bought several Manufacturer Refurbished Sony Clies and not a single problem. In fact my refurbished NR70V is the best PDA I've ever owned. I now have a NX80 I bought brand new, because it was a deal I couldn't pass up, but I miss my NR, which I sold for about what my NX80 cost.

That makes me feel better too. I have unpacked my refurb NX80 and it is charged but I have not had time to really play with it as my nx60v is still working fairly well. I am still searching for the threads that are going to help me selectively reinstall apps so I can clean this one up and get rid of some of the trials and software I don't want to keep.
Wish me luck!

If you are going to go through that process, the first app you should get is InWatch. You can download it from Palmgear. It keeps track of changes made by new software installs so you can selectively uninstall and make sure all traces of removed software are COMPLETELY removed.
Its only drawbacks are that you have to remember to snapshot your PDA between each install and you have to install AND EXECUTE the software once before taking the "after" snapshot. But when you want to get rid of all those trials and all the memory stealing foot prints they leave behind, you can easily do so.

Incidently, having just made the same transition not more than two months ago, here are a couple things you might like to know:
1. If you are using PhotoSkin, it doesn't work right on the NX80 :( Don't bother with it. Go for Wondersilk instead for changing grafitti skins and use the manual method for status bars.
2. You no longer need a CF driver to use the compact flash slot. But you DO need the modified Audio player in order to play sounds off the CF slot. You'll also need the modified camera program to store pictures on a CF card. They are both available on the same web page.
3. You might notice most of your status bars will lose the memory card icon if you put in a compact flash card. The status bars designed to work with the NX60/70 don't have a corresponding icon to represent both a CF card and a Memory Stick.
Enjoy your new NX80. Its definitely a nice machine. Sony made a big mistake discontinuing it.
